Would go with Zelus/Ravager's+2 hands with Restraint up, Faz+1/(Dusk+1 gloves? might be better) when Restraint down if accuracy isn't an issue.

I think that would depend on whether or not you have the radiant mail for the set or not.

I've looked for some maths on this myself, but haven't been able to find any, any time I find someone who asks about it the response is usually "shits too rare to consider" or something to that effect.

If you just go by the stats though, faz set has the same amount of haste, +14 str, +9 att (not counting str in that) and 5 DA vs 20 acc, 1 GA skill and the 8 sTP for +2 body. I would think that faz set comes out ahead unless you need the acc, but if you need the acc there are better acc pieces out there, and the sTP can be made up pretty easily elsewhere.

I took a chance and bought the +1 head and have been extremely happy with it since I made the switch. I also use the set on sam.

What in my post made you think I didn't know that?

My bad, misread. However last I checked for War you needed a STP body for 6 hit unless you were going to make sacrifices elsewhere/made a regain earring.

Actually, there's abit too much information missing from DNA's post.

You only need 3 sTP aside from goading/rajas/brutal to maintain a 6 hit with ukon (assuming rajas/brutal for WS), so the 8 on +2 body is actually overkill.

Rose strap was the obvious piece to change to, everything else stayed exactly the same. So if you really wanna compare stats it's 14 str, 9 att (again not counting str) and 5 DA VS 20 acc, 1 GA skill and 3% crit hit rate.

I would like to get my hands on that new neckpiece with the 3 sTP so I can swap back to claymore grip.

For the meantime, Heca body, Ares Body, or Askar Body for War weapons skills in abyssea?

I would go with Ares's of those 3 (unless severely accuracy deficient for some reason) and work on getting at least Grim(+1).

Zahak isn't that expensive. Use it until you get grim +1 for zerk down.

For the specified gear set and, for the sake of comparison numbers (what you seem to be running into in the latter half of the above quote), Faith+Bruiser vs Calcitrant+Tantra (also, /war with Berserk up in Abyssea, and accounting for ODD):

    F+B melee/ws split: 57.4/42.6
    C+T melee/ws split: 57.2/42.8

    F+B melee punch/kick split: 90.9/9.1
    C+T melee punch/kick split: 90.2/9.8

So, more damage from weaponskill than you estimated favors that which increases total damage (Tantra) over just melee damage (Bruiser's). On the other hand, less damage from kicks favors Bruiser's over Tantra.

    Varied DPS comparisons:

    Set 1: Abyssea (capped acc)

    Code:
                Ear
Neck None Tantra Bruiser Aesir Moonshade
    None 431.206 432.302 432.166 433.367 439.183
    Agasaya 433.607 434.71 434.568 435.769 441.569
    Calcitrant 435.223 436.364 435.946 437.153 443.179
    Faith 433.367 434.469 436.981 435.528 441.33
    Rancor 442.207 443.332 443.189 444.417 450.138
Set 2: Outside, 90% hit rate without neck/ear

    Code:
                Ear
Neck None Tantra Bruiser Aesir Moonshade
    None 160.615 161.125 162.585 161.769 163.66
    Agasaya 168.223 168.755 170.208 169.205 171.102
    Calcitrant 162.792 163.325 164.933 164.072 165.803
    Faith 166.391 166.756 170.256 167.565 169.312
    Rancor 168.987 169.482 170.954 170.136 172.014
    Ziel 168.239 168.77 168.694 169.343 171.251

Inside Abyssea, Rancor wins by a wide margin, as does Moonshade (att/regain version, btw). The next best options are Calc/Aesir, Faith/Bruiser, and Calc/Tantra. Agasaya is on the weaker end of things, along with Faith without Bruiser.

Ouside Abyssea, where accuracy matters at least a little, Rancor is brought back into line with the rest of the options, being only barely ahead of Ziel and Agasaya. Moonshade is also a relatively weaker option since weaponskills don't get quite as much of a boost.

Calcitrant is far weaker due to the lack of accuracy. Faith is also on the weaker side unless paired with a Bruiser, at which point it's on par with the other top contenders.

Obviously, the best choice depends on both the situation and what gear you actually have available to you. Inside Abyssea, top choice is obviously Rancor Collar; lacking that (or not wanting the +damage taken), I'd go with Calcitrant. Outside Abyssea (and needing acc), I'd probably just stick with Agasaya for solid, all-around performance, assuming that if accuracy is an issue I probably don't want the +damage taken of the Rancor. Though if base hit rate dropped to 85% or so I'd switch over to the Ziel (which doesn't show its full benefit here, as you only need 10 acc to reach cap).

Outside Abyssea on older content you'll be capping accuracy, so it would revert more to the Abyssea set in terms of relative standings, though the margin that Rancor wins by will still be closer to the second set (ie: very narrow advantage).

Thief, mainhand Dakka +2, offhand: triplus vs oynos knife? I'm assuming oynos is far better without a haster, but what about with? Thanks in advance.

Which is the best from the following selection for general use THF:

TP Rings: Rajas, Epona's, Demonry, Oneirous

Daggers: Twilight, Triplus, Auric, Kila +2 STR (x2), Fusetto +2 TP Bonus (Oynos Knife?)

    SA Rings: Rajas, Thundersoul (x2)

    Many Thanks

Is it worth getting rid with 5/5 meditate merits for 5/5 Zanshin rate / Ikkitousen?
I'm used to the oldschool sam and don't play it much, but since Hasso triggers zanshin does that make it a viable option?

Ikishoten yes although you might want to keep at least 1 in blade bash. If you have a good bit of idle time between fights/meleeing on SAM I'd keep the med merits.

I played with merits 50 different ways and have settled on:

    5/5 zan
    5/5 stp
    5/5 iki
    5/5 overwelm

You only need 4/5 iki to shave a hit off so you could do 1/5 blade bash, with Masamune however I just rock 5/5 iki since the overflow TP benefits Fudo. There is also the rare conserveTP>zanhasso round that shaves 2 hits off.

Best non kraken/octave club weapons for whm atm? A certain Taru leveled my whm out of it behind my back and it's more trouble to delevel than it is to theoretically get a new weapon.
