What's Better?

Two questions about my Victory Smite build, this is what I am currently using. And I really only play MNK for VWNM's.

First, would Beir +1 be better? And second, would Byakko's Haidate or Usukane Hizayoroi be better? My Shura Haidate +1 have STR +1 as an augment (400+ tries and that's the best I can get). Shura Zunari Kabuto +1 has DEX +3 WSD +3%.

Working on a Utsusemi casting set for THF. Critique please :D. Anything I'm missing that would be better here?

Raider's Bonnet +2 / Augmented Jeweled Collar* / Loquac. Earring / ---
Raider's Vest +2 / Ocelot Gloves? / Prolix Ring / ---
Mujin Mantle / Twilight Belt / Homam Cosciales / Ballerines?
*Start casting in Magoraga

Still need Homam but the rest is coming along alright. I'll prolly fill in the blank spots in the ear and ring with evasion gear (Novia and Alert ring maybe). Unsure about the hands and feet, I'll be at 28% Haste this way, is there anything I can take advantage of by swapping out excess Haste? Can be in any slot. If I had Phasmida Belt I could definitely do that in the waist slot. Are Nebula pieces worth getting or do they suck? I heard their Fast Cast either wasn't working at all or was so low that it wasn't even noticeable. Finally, is Impatiens worth it? I TP in Raider's for DDing and Ungur for evasion, and swapping to the ammo piece wouldn't lose me any TP, but then I'm pretty much stuck with it unless I wanna swap into Qirmiz or if I wanna lose TP every time I swap back to a Boomerang (or a both, if I swap after a WS).

Trying to think when such a build would be worth it on THF.

Anything which is going to have good enough Acc on you to warrent such a build, you're either going to

- Die to it's TP moves and a lack of reliable cure source.

- Have a mage with you.


I roll with -cast time beads and full haste(tp build lol) for Ni, and Beads+Eva for 1st half of ichi then swap to haste before it goes off.

Can't say I've ever felt like I've needed more fastcast, and certainly dont have the invo space to carry it all round with me.


None the less, you want a en-haste knife in there somewhere if you don't have a mage with you.
Max Eva where you can by swapping around your Haste (8% head and Af3+2 feet for example)
Have Eva in every slot for Ichi until just before the spell goes off (after fastcast has taken effect)

How complicated are you looking to get? If you want to get fancy go pre-mid-post cast to get full effect from eva, fc, and capped haste on cast finish, reqs some timing to get it right though regardless of whether or not you're using sc.

I just use my hybrid haste/eva/subtle blow set for utsusemi as it has 26% haste and I can't be bothered farming fast cast gear - the extra effort it takes to farm doesn't seem worth the inventory loss for fast cast to me... I'd hope I'm capped evasion for most stuff I use thf for now, but I use it just incase I'm not.

Only other Crit Rate gear I have for the set is a +1 Crit Rate Light Earring, if that helps.

Name one situation where a maxed fastcast set on THF will make the slightest difference to the outcome of the situation.

Max eva build is going to floor the Acc on anything in the game that can be shadow tanked. If Max Eva isn't working, .4sec off a cast time isn't going to save you if you're solo. THF/NIN has... bloody bolts(lol) and temp items to cure it's self, so chances are you're going to have a mage with you for anything significant, meaning haste and cures, meaning you can just Ni>Ni on the vast majority of things and up your killspeed significantly while taking maybe 1 or 2 hits between shadows.


It's a Complete waste of invo space which can be better utilised with WS/MDT/TP/SA/TA/EVA sets.

I agree having fastcast is better than not having fastcast, but carrying all of that around with you is a waste of time, gil and invo.

A PDT set for THF would be more useful.
