So would Houyi's Gorget be even better? Cause I actually have this thing and didn't think it would be that great for externator, but if arctier's is good then... yeah

Saving up for ocel head (almost there) and then I will get the rings. Other than that rest of the gearset seems pretty straightforward.

However, I'm a little iffy on the fact this gearset only gives me +37 attack. I feel like I should be taking out some agi pieces here and there for something that gives a shit tonne of attack+ to balance out the gear. Am I wrong in thinking this and I should just focus on stacking the living fuck out of Agi?

A rough estimate for outside Abyssea places agi at about 2.75 as valuable as att, even with fairly low cRatio, so roughly 4 agi matches 11 attack. Justiciar's wins over Houyi mainly due to an extra point of fStr, though it's still a tiny smidge ahead even with capped fStr (2 points ahead on a 2k weaponskill). Inside Abyssea Justiciar's wins due to a general devaluation of the agi mod.

From that, though, you can see the general relative value. Agi certainly seems worth stacking, even if your attack is a bit weak.

What's everyone's opinion on STR vs DEX merits nowadays? I took my STR merits and put them into DEX forever ago to mess with some dDEX builds and never got around to changing them back. Now that the cap has been upgraded to 12 for attributes though, I wanted to reevaluate them. My DD's are THF, RNG, COR, and DRK. Might do DNC. I have Gandiva and working on Armageddon/Caladbolg... not sure if I'll do Twash.

Anyways, should I go back to STR or just finish up DEX? I know stacking DEX is worthless in VW. For other content outside of Abyssea, I've found they'd improve my DPS slightly on DRK and RNG (sick with Dead Aim) during its TP phase, but I'm usually capped on dDEX for Jishnu's and it hardly matters for DRK WS's. THF I'm practically capped dDEX on everything TP and WS phases. Haven't really looked into STR benefits for everything yet. So I'm not sure what to go with ._. Any opinions? Thanks.

I know people are saying "Brutal negates the -DA on belt" left and right, but it's still 5% lost, so I like the STR+9 belt on my SAM more. I'm mainly using Shoha now and not Kaiten anymore, so the ATK+25 I don't have using Beir+1 doesn't matter as much either.

Using Ace's there, the atk again doesn't matter as much for Shoha, and I just found STR+8 better for Shoha than DA+3%, maybe someone can do math on it with your full set.

I've been thinking DEX recently too. Simply for the reason of dDEX alone. Assuming (and I hopefully so) that dDEX doesn't scale over the level increase. i.e. you still need 50 DEX points above enemy's AGI to cap dDEX, then meriting DEX has a strong point on crit'able WS.
If that last 4~5 points of DEX bump you the end of dDEX spectrum (1DEX for 1% crit rate), then I don't see how that can become a bad choice.

The thing is this new WS, some of them are potent and none of them are crit based. If they further throw our game content without huge crit damage+ support, then the reason of using critless WS become more prominent, and full-meriting STR will be, although the % increment is relatively the same as in 75 days, your main choice.

Also, with the Relics, would I be using their weapon-only WS's for the Aftermath or the new Merit WS's (or some combination of the two)?

If you are making a weapon for rng, the only thing relevant is epeen barrage and enmity reduction. Another DD is superior if enmity isn't an issue.
