Plot:

Civil War vet John Carter is transplanted to Mars, where he discovers a lush, wildly diverse planet whose main inhabitants are 12-foot tall green barbarians. Hmm, from all the stuff I'd heard about this before I expected this to be a little more... pulpy? I guess. Not sure if that's how the feel of the original material was. Looks like it might be interesting.

Seeing this tonight. I will be sitting between an english major who's read every book and a med student who's read every book. I've never read anything of the John Carter adventures besides what got reused for League of Extraordinary Gentlemen vol 2.

I'm expecting a catastrophe but at least I'll be drinking during the whole thing.
