I understand where you're coming from, but there are certain pieces of gear that always present a bit of an annoyance when you're looking for the item required to repair it. Now with 1.18 all you will have to do is just track someone down with the right skill. Definitely a welcome change.
That's probably because you don't repair items. If you did, you would have to keep 20+ items on hand for each class with which you intend on repairing items. You also have to hoard items in storage for eventual repairs of items. It's basically switching all of that for 5 items, a huge break for crafters that already have limited space.
maybe you can synth those deaspected crystal to this![]()
Who can complain about this? Very cool.
I'm happy about the changes but it could have been nice if each higher grade was able to repair everything below it too.
Repair Material Description
Grade 1 Dark Matter Universal repair material. Use to repair equipment for class ranks 1-10.
Grade 2 Dark Matter Universal repair material. Use to repair equipment for class ranks 1-20.
Grade 3 Dark Matter Universal repair material. Use to repair equipment for class ranks 1-30.
Grade 4 Dark Matter Universal repair material. Use to repair equipment for class ranks 1-40.
Grade 5 Dark Matter Universal repair material. Use to repair equipment for class ranks 1-50.
If higher grades cost more than lower, you'd be losing money for the convenience, so I guess that's a fair trade-off. If they wanted to save on inventory room further, simply make the Dark Matter its own separate page, like "key items" and poof - now that inventory space is freed as well.
I feel like something is still missing. Possibly the claiming/engaging overhaul and the positioning and ranged attack algorithm changes.
Not that they've mentioned much anything regarding those, but I always felt like they would be in 1.18.
Aside from those, 1.18 seems to have everything I initially thought. Hopefully the rest is in 1.19.
Sweet Baby Jesus, This Is Awesome!
Keep this sweet goodness coming, SE!
We still have like 3 working days before the update hits unless it's delayed so there's probably more to reveal.
I think it's safe to say that the patch will indeed be huge compared to the others.
repairing was one of the worst things about the game when I played it. Needing to find X person w/the required skill lv and needing the mats was terrible. Especially since no AH and you can't just pick up the mats in 5 seconds. Add onto to the fact you needed to bazaar your items to have it repaired and the repair mats.. it was a cluster fuck of terrible
Hopefully this will stop people offering 1k for a repair mat which costs triple that and wondering why no one mends their stuff, lol. A step in the right direction for sure.
I don't know if you're aware of this but branches stack to 99.
Point is items that have no use and come in huge supply need uses and giving such items one recipe isn't going to cut it. You either make the recipes require multiples or you cut the supply. I would prefer the latter but then you'll be "/whine /whine why can't I get a full stack of branches in two hours any more?"
Snip.
Meh, I appreciate the effort and welcome less hassle into my FF14 experience. However, The RIGHT thing to do was to fucking ditch repairs all together.
