I'm keeping up with it.
I'm keeping up with it.
It's got so many plots.
I might actually get a figurine for the first time ever:

I know you!
Horizon has a lot of ideas going on but no real clear connection between everything. Seems like it's a bunch of inside jokes of RPGs/video games/otaku humor right now with plenty of ecchi elements to boot. Not sure if it will ever get serious but I do like the fighting/action and the comedy wasn't terrible (not great either). I dropped it after 2 episodes though, so I'm not sure what the third was like but it's something I don't really have the time for.
They did explain things this episode.

And no, the show isn't taking things the least bit seriously.
No, the second episode, and a bit of the first.
Holy shit Guilty Crown Ep2 was awesome. All my reservations about the first episode were put aside after watching the second episode. I hope it can keep up the hype.
I thought it was amazing until the very end.
Spoiler: show
Really? I thought the 2nd episode was weaker in overall. There was even more pointless fanservice (not even subtle about it), the genetic terminology is starting to sound stupid without any meaningful context, and characters are all generics and bland.Originally Posted by Burningthough
The rebellion still don't make much sense to me. They have camo suits, but send the main character on an pointless infiltration mission without one? Why take so much risk when he is your secret weapon? It almost feel like they just wanted an excuse to show an ass and decided to add that completely pointless scenes..
And the ending....Really? We are back to school already after 2 episodes? I was hoping for some plot twist at least to make the setting stand out above every other anime cliche or something. I know most people are fine with bouncing breasts and asses, but I want a little more story than that.
Hell if I had a secret weapon, considered god like to people, I'd shove it in the enemy's face and show them how much it will rape them, in which case, it looks like it did.
BAM outa nowhere, ya got OWNED!
The story I'd presume is mostly where....

overall I think its pretty good anime, between the action, the awesome music, and fanservice of course!

I agree with the story bit, but I was satisfied with the amount of action, and the quality of the artwork and animation. I do hope that the story picks up a bit more, and I was a little disappointed that the little shit of a main character is too stubborn to join the cause and fight the man, but overall I was satisfied. Iirc its supposed to be 24 episodes long, so i'm hoping after they build up the character development a little bit the story will really take off.
So far though, I like what i'm seeing, and i'm trying to hold off being too cynical and just enjoying myself.
Edit: I will say that I thought the second episode was a bit stronger than the first episode. I think they are keeping us guessing and wanting more, instead of giving us everything all at once.
Strange, you and I came to the same conclusion but I thought the second episode was weaker than the first but not by much. I thought it was weaker since we saw more of the characters and learned more of the story which really aren't that great so far.
My thoughts, which pretty much go with the conversation so far on what's right, underperforming, and wrong with Guilty Crown (Gulk, you might not wanna read the wrong section lol):

Yeah I definitely still think the first episode was weaker especially when it came to story, since they spent quite a bit of time on the music aspect. The first episode didn't really do much but introduce characters and barely spent any time introducing the setting. The second episode gave us motives, the reason why the resistance is fighting the antibodies, and even going as far as showing them killing innocents. They showed what type of leader Gai is too, he plans out everything, he's covert, he's a complete badass. With the proper introduction of Gai, they explained some of what went down in the first episode. Not to mention some of the subtle action that explained the nature of the mecha in the series.
My only complaint about the story thus far is the main character being stubborn and not helping out the resistance outright. It's going to happen eventually i'm sure because Inori (spelling might be off) is involved. I don't really mind the ecchi, you could probably argue that it's out of place or whatever but every anime has some fan service at some point.
fuck this back to school life bullshit, and it's like all the bad guys are nothing more than just a walking cliche.
anyway, at least haganai didn't disappoint today, gotta love those eroge euphemism on those scenes, and kobato is just hnggggggggggggggggg
I don't know if I can stand Guilty Crown for longer. I want to watch for the animation and action (which are amazing no doubt), but the story and characters are just...
Pointless fanservice and silly outfits I'm used too, but then contrast that with the darkness the show tries to put on with violence and blood and it just looks weird. Also, am I the only one who thinks it's fucking weird and stupid to have pilots get hurt or die when they pilot the mech from a totally different location? What's the point of remote controlling a mech if there's no reduce in risk? Not to mention the man bad guy is totally one-dimensional. It's retarded to be that evil, and unlike A-LAWS, I don't believe the need for this type of military force whatsoever (though that part falls to the shortcomings in the story).
And I know all anime likes to return to school. But seriously?
Rant about Guilty Crown over. I'll be sad if this becomes popular for no other reason than ecchi and good action. In fact, this is pretty much how I felt about HSotD, but at least they knew what they were doing and didn't try to take it so seriously.
