fuck am i glad to see Berserker actually in animated form

the only bone i have to pick is that the quality doesn't transition well between the action scenes and the talk scenes... but i can definitely live with it if that's all the budget concession that has to be made

    edit: didn't mean to

As great as FZ's animation and fight scenes are, I really hope people watching it don't think that's all there is to the anime, especially those who haven't seen FSN or read FZ's novel. There's a much deeper layer to it all than just a bunch of street fighter characters duking it out.

I think my favorite character in FZ is Kariya, and it's just so damn appropriate for Berserker to be his servant. Just wait for when Berserker's identity is revealed.

I watch for the flash, and stay for the intrigue.

so Bluebeard has to be Gilles De Rais and he thinks that Saber is Joan of Arc then? Is that what the end of EP5 is going for? Also, if Berserker is Lancelot, what's the deal with him going apeshit on Saber?

Has a lot to do with Arthur and Lancelot's deal regarding her past. I forgot where I read all of it but honestly I'm sure it's in the VN or on Fate/Zero or Fate's wiki in general.

    Spoiler: show
You do know what happened between Lancelot and Arthur in the whole Arthurian saga right? In any case, it had a lot to do with his affair with Guinevere, and Arthur's decision to execute her because of it, and Lancelot rescuing her and killing a bunch of his fellow knight that ended up with him being Arthur's enemy.

Started watching both Persona and Ben-to based on the hype from this thread. Ben-to is just wacky and entertaining, very fun show. Persona on the other hand made me look up gameplay videos from the game on youtube. For some reason I thought it was a 2D fighter akin to Street Fighter or etc, etc. But seeing that it's actually an RPG, and a fun looking one at that, seriously cranked up my interest in the series as a whole. I dunno if I'll ever get a chance to play Persona 4 considering it came out like 2 years ago on PS2, but apparently as of August Persona 5 started being developed for PS3. And that I will definitely buy without hesitation. Love me a good RPG.

Edit: ANNNNND the PSP remake of P3 is in stock at the Gamestop right beside my work for only $30. Gonna have to pick that up tomorrow it seems.

You know there's going to be a PSVita remake of Persona 4 right? If you plan on getting a Vita, I'd definitely get that version of P4 (which looks awesome).

I was considering getting a Vita for a bunch of reasons, and now I have another. I was also considering getting a 3DS for KH3D as well as a couple other games (...and the eventual new Pokemon that is inevitably going to be released), but I do have both a PSP and a DS so I'll probably get both new handhelds eventually anyway.

I just need to borrow someone's Wii so I can play Skyward Sword. Hell no am I buying a Wii at this point just for 1 game >_>

I watched all 16 episodes of penguin today and in the beginning the show definitely had promise. As each episode passed though, I've been getting more and more bored. Episode 16 had a welcome change of pace with the rich chick's dreams but I immediately was bored again when they switched back to show the other characters.

I feel like they wasted an opportunity with the story. In the beginning I felt like maybe there would be more stories for multiple possible drums. Diary would be 3-5 episodes, oops not what we're looking for let's move on to the next possible drum. Relegate the characters involved in the diary to side characters at best then pickup a new quest with the new characters. Rich chick can be involved with one possible item. Doctor dude and bunnies with another. Instead they decided to go with one long story and it's boring as hell. I'll still watch the show but only because I have already invested all this time into it.

I'll agree with you if the ending doesn't pay off, but for now I think most people are looking for more of an instant gratification thing. Penguindrum seems like a long-haul pay off type of anime, but I can enjoy it regardless for the style and music.

My thoughts on this past week of anime:

    http://avvesione.wordpress.com/2011/...-anime-review/

Am I the only one watching Idolmaster and Tamayura here? Never seems to be any discussion on those two anime. Was the very best episode of Idolmaster this past week and I forced others to watch it too so they could share in its glory. But never saw any mention of it here oh well.

Yeah Ano Hi was really sad, but that was kind of obvious from the start of the show. I liked it though.

I've been meaning to start Tamayura. Junichi Sato, the director, has created/directed a lot of my favorite series, including Princess Tutu, Kaleido Star and all 3 seasons of Aria (directed only, but brilliantly). When the Tamayura OAV aired, I was excited to watch it, but the subject matter and characters ended up very boring and bland to me. I am not interested in photography, and really, considering the wacky personalities, colorful scenes and fun scenarios Sato's come up with in the past, the OAV really let me down. I've been hesitant to start the series, because I'm afraid it will be the same boring shit. (On the plus side, Maaya's rendition of Yasashisa ni Tsutsumareta Nara was fuck yes)

Then again, he did make Pretear, and that was pretty awful, so not everything he shits out is gold.

Tamayura has been an Aria -1 for me. It's got a lotta the same elements but it doesn't have that same personality and vibe to it. If you liked Aria, you should give it a try but don't expect it to be of that caliber, just a relaxing slife anime (or healing or whatever they're called). The 4 girls never compare to Akari, Aika or Alice but the stories they have for each episode are that same kinda exploration and use of setting that I liked a lot in Aria. Maon and Norie are pretty annoying at times.

And don't worry if you don't like photography. The show is more about food than photography at this point (every episode has at least 2 scenes centered around food).

I've been watching and enjoying both. Unfortunately UTW has been running a solid week behind for TLing Tamayura.
