The December issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Monthly Newtype magazine is announcing on Thursday that a theatrical film project of Puella Magi Madoka Magica is launching.

Awesome, I was interested in what the world was like after the end of Madoka. Still looks equally as dark and fucked up, so as long as they don't do some bullshit with godoka it should be good.

Totally agree. This was one of my favorite parts of the manga and they totally nailed it.

The censoring (in spoiler; huge like xbox) is pretty lulzy though; given everything that's happened so far (and has yet to come), it makes me wonder why they even bothered. Hopefully the blur is removed on the Blu-Ray release.

As much as I'm loving it so far, I was a bit disturbeded by the rape scenes...especially since the girls are young.

And as always with good series I'm very tempted to Marathon the manga, but I want to enjoy the series without any spoilers...guess I'll have to resist for now

Madoka is one of the rare case where I was content with the open ending they gave us. A continuation is going to break some of the magic by making the plot unnecessarily convoluted.

It's not impossible that they surprise me and do something interesting, but the original series already covered everything we needed to know, and I don't see the need of a movie.


Also, what make it worse is that Homura was my least favorite character...I really hope it won't focus on her too much.

I'm not so concerned about things like that. If the movie is bad, it doesn't take away from what the series has done. Kinda like Gundam 00 lol. I want to see it either way, curiosity always get the best of me, my only worry is them resetting the universe and bringing Madoka back. I dunno why, but Japan is obsessed with returning to the status quo. I loved Madoka for doing it differently.

It's the opposite for me. If it's a reset, I can easily ignore it and pretend it never happened (which is the case for most anime movies). If it's a continuation, it usually harm my experience as a whole, because I can't pretend it doesn't exist as easily.

In any case, I wouldn't mind knowing what happened between the ending and epilogue that turned her wings from angelic to demonic/witch wing, and whether or not that desert was the aftermath of some epic conflict.

Mirai Nikki 5 disturbed me and many a 'I have the weirdest boner right now'. What is that blurred out in the screenshot above?

Really felt bad for Tsubaki, that is some shitty stuff to have happen to you, being passed around like that. Really psyched that Yukki manned the fuck up though and glad Yuno was rescued. Kind of confused by how the cop did absolutely nothing after knowing Yuno/Yukki were in trouble, what a piece of shit. I kind of want him and the Ninth to die now. 12th's death was fucking bullshit, what a chill character and then seeing his back story being a truly kind person living with like no money...he went out like a bitch so dumb.

I'd argue it was Madoka. Her innocence, compassion, and curiosity really elevated the horror to an unfathomable level. While Kyubey was the one who put things in motion, it was Madoka who reacted to them; she brought the emotion and heart to the anime.

I wasn't being all that serious, though I do love Kyubey for all the shit he gives people.

I don't particularly like Madoka as a character, though I perfectly understand what she brings to the overall picture. I just tend to really hate her archetype, so it made it a lot harder to like her over someone like Kyoko (even Sayaka was far more interesting to watch). Alternate Madoka is cool though, she seemed a lot more down to earth and realistic.

"Madoka Magica" Film Trilogy Confirmed by Newtype

Following up on an earlier story from Monday, the latest issue of Newtype has indeed confirmed that Puella Magi Madoka Magica will be getting the feature film treatment, only instead of one film it will be a trilogy, with the first two films being a recap/retelling of the series, with the third film being a completely new story.

The final confirmation of the project follows tweets made earlier today by the Japanese HMV Anime Twitter account initially that cast doubt on the veracity of the original image that surfaced earlier today, with many believing it to be a hoax due to the way the original image was altered.

The account initially apologized for posting what it believed to be unconfirmed information on the film project and subsequently discounted the cover image by stating that it would feature the Nanoha franchise on the cover.

Now with the film project confirmed, how many of you are excited for the now trilogy of movies? Great way to keep it going or a cash grab?
