Stuff usually doesn't pop up until around 1-3am on a Friday (as far as I noticed), so I'm surprised to see stuff popping up at least 5-6 hours earlier than that.

But most of the time I download stuff the morning after, so I'm not exactly sure when stuff normally pops up lol. Not like I'm complaining, time to watch some UN-GO and Persona. Hell yeah.

    Edit
Persona: Good stuff as usual, but it's more of a set up episode if anything. Gotta love dat beef bowl.

Un-go was amazing this week (9/11 reference aside, these sucked). The last episode was easily one of my favorite this season.

Persona...I wish I could say the same. The show has lost a lot of its momentum around ep 6-7 imo. I see a lot of bad animation, and the pacing is just not as good. Hopefully, it will pick up again soon, but I'm notoptimist.

    [edit]
Penguindrum was crazy. We actually got a ton of answers, and they set up the scened for a nice finale... All we need to know now is wtf a penguindrum is.

This is the only thing that truly bugs me. The pacing I think is relative to the game, but it's easier to swallow when you can just plough through without waiting a week and letting it all sink in. Either way, I'm still enjoying it even with the occasionally odd episode (though I'm biased as fuck so ignore me).

UN-GO was good as usual too. At this point, I'm starting to like the side characters a lot more (before I only liked Yuuki, Inga, Kazamori and Kaisho) but it's a shame it took this long for me to start giving a shit about them. Though, really the only ones worth mentioning are Rie and Izumi. I'm sad it's ending soon, I really liked this show.

Penguindrum... I love how colourful but dark this show is. I dunno if I want a happy ending or a sad ending, either way I'm looking forward to next week.

We also have a prequel movie left! (aired, but not subbed I think?)

The show is only going to be 12 episodes long? I'm guessing they're gonna do an anime original ending, but I'm not against it, episode 11's ending was quite nice

maybe they'll do some shit like oreimo/bakemonogatari with 3 extra webisode lol.

though im sure that they'll give at least 1 extra episode on the BD since they mentioned doing the skit play as one of the activities.

Either way, I really do enjoy the series, it's one of the few fanservice harem series I can give my seal of approval for.

So... the only anime I've been watching this season is Mirai Nikki. Is there anything else good that I should pick up?

I generally prefer serious and/or dark anime.

Edit: It looks like people are talking a lot about Fate/Zero, Penguindrum, Un-Go, and Persona. I've always been a fan of Fate (I even played the visual novel), so that one is guaranteed. How are the others?

Now that it's winter break I'm catching up on some anime I missed also.

Started with Mirai Nikii and just have to say Yuno has to be the cutest psycho stalker ever.
Re-watched F/SN real quick also, as next on my list is F/Z.

I'm also wondering what has been good this lately, haven't been able to watch much end of summer/fall/winter seasons. I have Persona4 and Working on my list, as it seems those are good from the thread, and I'll check out Penguindrum and Nichijou. Any other recommendations?

Un-go and Penguindrum get my seal of approval. They are both great in their own way.

Chihayafaru if you want shoujo romance/comedy

Boku ha Tomodachi ga Sukunai if you like comedy (with ecchi, but the hilarious kind).

+1 for Penguindrum, UN-GO and Chihayafuru.

Fate Zero if you like the FSN universe (and even if you don't, it's a story told much better than original FSN anime).

Working!! and Ika Musume if you like laughing (conversely avoid these if you hate joy and happiness).

Usagi Drop if you like heart warming stories (though this is 1-2 seasons ago, not sure how far back you wanna go but if you're watching Nichijou...)

Tiger and Bunny if you want an action anime with an interesting twist on setting.

I saw most of Spring/Summer I think; Steins;Gate, Ano Hana, Ao no Exorcist, C, Tiger/Bunny, Denpa Onma and Saced Seven. I haven't had a chance to watch Nichijou yet is all, not sure if I missed anything else before fall/winter, which I haven't seen any of other then Mirai so far. Thanks for some recommendations!

Savor Nichijou. You will soon know the feel of never seeing a new episode ever again.

Nichijou was probably the best comedy/slice of life I've seen. It's worth your time.

There is a 12 episode retelling of the first season that is coming. We might get new scenes if we are lucky

    Fate Zero 12
    Spoiler: show
First of all, I must say that I rewatched FSN this week before seeing this episode, and I have to admit, I kinda ruined the rest of Zero for myself...in a way. I was totally surprised at how much I had forgotten about FSN and how much they refer back to the previous holy grail war. In saying this, I think because I had forgotten so much, F/Z was much more entertaining than it should have been. Not to say it's bad, not by any means. But now I kinda wish I would have held off like I originally planned to.

Anyway, now that I am refreshed on whats going on, 12 was a good setup episode. No action, but it set up well the future alliance between Kirei and Gil. I must admit, I actually like Kirei a lot here because it showed how much he struggled to stay true to himself before becoming the eventual ass that he is in FSN. I am glad, however, that they confirmed that Assassin is completely wiped out this time. I really didn't want to go another episode where all the servants live again...

Judging by the audio preview, it looks like next week things will pick up again. I really want to see some actual fights this time (last week's slaughter didn't count in my book). Especially if Gil, Rider, or Berserker are involved.

Caught up on F/Z now, love that it's very fresh and feels new every episode even though I know how it is supposed to end. The interactions between the characters are quite a bit better then F/SN was.

    Spoiler: show
Loved the "Banquet of Kings" and Iksander was pretty awesome the whole episode, even though I like Saber's idea of a King better.

From previous episodes, I was shocked to find out that Kiritsuga is Illya's dad but you can quickly see why Saber hated him already. I like that he works in the background and instead we get to see Saber/Iris work together and their relationship. Since I don't read any manga and never played the games I probably don't know plenty of obvious things but it's pretty fun to look up some of the servants that I don't know much about, like Gillies de Rais, who was just as much of a bastard in history as he is in the show. The only servant who hasn't been named yet is Berserker but it seems obvious he is the Black Knight, Lancelot(especially since he lost control and attacked Saber), which should lead to some interesting interactions between the two. I wonder how they will change that story though, since he most notably had an affair with Arthur's Queen, Guinevere.

It was also interesting to find out more about Rin/Sakura's relationship and exactly what horrible things happened to Sakura, that they alluded to in F/SN.

It's interesting that all the Heroes are quick to announce their names, where as in FS/N it was always kept secret, except with Lancer. I get why Archer decided not to tell everyone he was Shiro but they never said who Rider was (I figured it out it was Medusa later) and it took longer for them to reveal Saber and Caster's names. Whereas in F/Z you know everyone just a few episodes in.

While I haven't watched it, from what I've read and understood the problem is that FS/N anime was a mash-up of the VN and miss out on lots of stuff. In the Visual Novel, thanks to 3 story paths, you learn the identity of all Servants, stuff like Sakura's background and pretty much anything else that is important, plus you get a nice character development. It's a great read if you have some time on your hands D:
