derp, wrong button
Holy shit @ Persona 12. It doesn't make up for the lack of good animation over the past two episodes, but it was a hell of a start.
It renewed my faith in the show. Everything about this episode felt right, and I hope it will stay like this.
Spoiler: show
It's anime only for that lotus eater segment. Though it's nice because it acted like a shadow trial to Yu's character and show the insecurities that he has
Yeah, it didn't feel out of place at all. It's rare a studio manage to add scenes like this that feel right when the source material is already good.
At first I thought they were exploring the bad ends, but then I realized it wasn't any of those. I loved what they did with Yu, as many who don't know Yu's character would think of him as kinda empty.
Next couple of episodes seem to finish off the social links with the odd characters.
oh god, please go over Sayoko's link in detail, best non-PC social link in p4.
Wait, fate/zero 14-26 isn't happening winter season but spring season instead? Nooooooooooooooo ; ;
Been happy with all the finales this season/episodes this week (except Guilty Crown) which has made me happy.
UN-Go was great, not as dramatic as I was expecting but it fit in nicely with the show, wrapped up the anime nicely and HOPEFULLY leaves enough material for another season. I just hope the novels they didn't use for this anime are as good as the ones they used for this season but who knows.
Penguindrum had a great finale but I don't like how some things were left to our interpretation rather than giving us something more concrete. But that finale was magical and definitely one of my favorites this past year.
That was the best episode of P4 and actually had improved animation to back up the product. Really had fun with the episode and love that the comedy is still as good as it is (something I was worried would die down when the anime got more serious).
Idolmaster had a concert where all the girls got together and there was a lot of emotional stuff and whatnot. I warmed up to this anime quite a bit in the past month and was happy I gave it a shot. Loved the animation during the final concert: 2 and a half minutes of constant character motion? I wish all anime were like that.
Loved seeing Maya again in Working!! and agree she needs a bigger role the next time around rather than in the last episode. I'm very impressed with this sequel and it was better than the original in every aspect, from animation, to comedy, to characters, to whatever. They developed the characters much better than the first season which is something I wasn't expecting. Might end up being 3rd or 4th this season depending on Ika's finale.
Guilty Crown sucked. Find out why I'm pissed: http://avvesione.wordpress.com/2011/...ilty-crown-11/
Final episode of Tamayura was the first one to feel like an episode of Aria, so they saved their best for last. Did get kinda bored with it though so I'm happy it's over.
Sounds like somebody should have stuck with Ben-toGuilty Crown sucked. Find out why I'm pissed: http://avvesione.wordpress.com/2011/...ilty-crown-11/
Or god forbids WATCH HAGANAI

Ben-to Finale was pretty spectacular
It'll be interesting if, once it's done, people go from this thought to the show being awesome. However, I think you're being a bit too... emphatic with your displeasure. You whine about Shu waffling, but how many teenagers do you know that don't have their own social faults? Meanwhile, Shu basically shows his friends a superpower, and you go, "WHY WOULD THEY HELP HIM?!" without considering the likely target audience: Kids who dream of adventure and the fantastic. Personally, I wanted to see Shu combine all their abilities like he did earlier in the season, but instead it turned into one-at-a-time one-offs.Guilty Crown sucked. Find out why I'm pissed: http://avvesione.wordpress.com/2011/...ilty-crown-11/
I'm not even sure what to make of your love for Dan. Forced comedy is something that rarely goes well for me, and that's about all he tried to bring other than being useful in saving Shu's mom. What part of "World fallen prey to some mysterious "virus" and subsequent tyranny of those trying to stop and control it, even though people inside probably created it" invites comedy? I just don't see it. I certainly don't want it.
Now, unless some bullshit comes and saves Gai, I'd say we're at Shu's turning point. Undertaker is presumably without a leader, and now the enemy is more than GHQ, but another Void user. Not only that, but he took Inori. Shu's got plenty of motivation to man the fuck up and get shit done, and 11 or more episodes is plenty of time to do just that. If you want to be crabby about the cast being too big with too little time devoted to all the characters, hey, I'd agree. But that's also something that can be better addressed with more episodes. At the very least, we have some strong hintings that Inori is somehow related to Shu.
Also, I lost count of how many times I typed Shy instead of Shu.
Did you forget about the magical band aid that can fix everything and is probably less than 100 yard away from them? Now, unless some bullshit comes and saves Gai,
This has been the case with GC since episode 1.
The problem is Shu's development is backwards. His crisis of confidence (lol he's Tom Cruise) happened ages ago and now we see another one with such a corny and forced scene to make it up. The whole couple of episodes were a major step backwards when Shu was already a pussy who needed to man up. Now he's a pussy who needs to man up again. Why would anyone want to relate to that? What's to stop this happening again?
Not to mention if Funeral Parlour weren't so fucking stupid they wouldn't be in these situations to begin with. Clearly they all desperately need Shu, but they're all so stupid that they think they can do shit without him and get fucked up as a result. And yet despite all this, they don't treat Shu with any decency. I don't understand why. Actually, I do. It's cause Shu is a pussy and worthless, even after 11 episodes.
GHQ is the only part I like. They seem like people doing a job (at least until the latest episode) for the good of their country and all of them are way more interesting to watch than any of the heroes. Seriously, a show with Major Dan, Major Sergai and Daryl would be way better than this shit.
Randomly, Ben-to was awesome. Was disappointed we didn't get to see Orthros get their asses kicked, but having it implied was good enough. I really felt like eating eel after watching this too. Ben-to makes me fucking hungry.
My biggest concern with this show is the lack of purpose or overarching concept to guide it. A good story will usually have a moral, a philosophy or a life lesson to tell the viewer, but I sense nothing of the sort when I watch Guilty Crown. It's just a series of random events that means very little on their own. We're 11 episodes in now, and I'm still not sure what the hell they are trying to tell.
If Guilty Crown was non stop action, I would be able to turn off my brain and enjoy it for what it is, but they are constantly trying to add a "psychological side" to a story and cast have no depth. You need better writing than this if you want to deal with these topics, because it just sound pretentious otherwise.
Shu being emo isn't a huge issue in my opinion, it's just poorly done like everything. Even when they tell you why he is acting like this (guilt, poor self esteem, post traumatic stress), they aren't doing a good job at writing it in a believable way. I'm still clueless what is going on in Shu's brain, and none of his decision (good or bad) make sense to me. If you want to write a character downfall into despair, you have to do it like they did in Madoka with 10 minutes long monologue/conversation that flesh out the emotions properly.
We've only seen it used on inanimate objects, so while I wouldn't rule out the possibility it could also heal people, outright reviving them is another matter.
Anyway, not everyone just flips a switch and permanently changes. A coward doing heroic things doesn't automatically make him a hero. Yeah, the others need Shu, but forcing him to do their bidding would make them no better than GHQ. The fact they're still willing to try without him, however, speaks of their own resolve. Christ, I don't think you'll find anyone who will admit to relating to being a chickenshit, but I think some of you have been so brainwashed by kids ousting adults in media that when a kid suddenly acts a kid, he's a fucking retard and the show's a failure. Meanwhile, the stereotypical idiot American soldier is glorified and praised.
I'm not sure if you read my last post or not, but I addressed most of this already. The idea that Shu can't overcome his issue easily is fine, it's the execution that is lacking. Shu's behavior is very inconstant from one episode to another, and relating to him become very hard because of that.
Take Mirai Nikki for example. Yuki is probably a bigger pussy than Shu, but it's a lot easier to relate to him and understand what is going through his mind. It's still not perfect, but it's much better.
