For all the drama over him being a pussy, I think an important development took place. Shu expressed his dislike of basically looking into people's hearts, stealing their powers without their consent. He made a decision to not only divulge this ability to his friends, but display it. In doing so, he convinced them to follow him. Otherwise, he could have picked them off one by one and tried to do things himself, but he's thinking more like a leader. The comment from the new baddie about him basically leaving his throne vacant also hints at Shu's leanings. Thrones are for kings, kings often conquer, but since Shu isn't forcing his will on others, he may as well not be a king in that guy's eyes. And while I'm not a fan of the power of love/friendship conquers all, it kind of set the stage for a wouldbe kind king against your typical powerhungry tyrant.
How that pans out will depend on the rest of the series. Just tiresome seeing, "SUCKED!" every week, only for people to keep watching. Far as I'm concerned, the show could be a lot worse, nor am I calling it perfect as is.
