my mom's friend was in Cairo when it was 120F/49 degrees C, people were literally walking from store to store for the AC

funny thing is, in Egypt (or perhaps UAE? I forget) they close the stores at higher than 35 degrees C, so the local weather networks always show the temperature to be 35 so that the stores don't have to close lol

In school there was this rumour that everyone would get to go home if it hit 40 deg C. Of course one year it did, and we didn't get to go home So the rumour upgraded itself to 45 deg C. The next year it hit that, and we didn't get to go home. Thankfully it never got that high again. It really sucked at those temps
