Who is that even directed to?
...rofl
I recall reading something about recipe simplification. Was that my imagination or patch 1.19?
I'm guessing 1.19 or 1.20.
Crafting patch is supposed to be 1.19 with the materia system and easier recipes. We've already seen something with the repair adjustments though.
I haven't visited the official forums since the day before the patch. Probably for the best huh?
Adding Annotations to video now. Should be up within the hour. ;d
Recipe simplification was always mentioned for 1.19 along with the Materia Craft System iirc.
For the backseat drivers:
Just a quick note... the recasts still fuck up for me and say they are ready prematurely if I leave the game open long enough (buffs similarly say they are prematurely at 0:00 duration and sit like that until they actually wear).
I don't know if it's limited to being in windowed mode or being in windowed mode and being on a different window for a prolonged amount of time (like when I AFK for the night)... but I usually have to quit the game and re-open it once or twice a day if I want my recasts to be accurate again, assuming it's been open a good portion of the day or overnight. I especially have to do so if I'm about to fight something mildly difficult as I end up wasting so much precious time spamming Second Wind, Sacrifice, or Syphon MP hotkeys and just getting the "You can't use that ability now." error spam.
It's easily the most frustrating shit for me since I generally leave my game logged in unless I'm leaving the house for at least 6 hours and don't want my machine heating up the room while I'm gone.
Hey, Yoshi-P. PLEASE FIX THIS.
Has nothing to do with time online, but if you're prone to momentary lockups/hitches thats what throws it off.
I never have any noticeable freezes or lock-ups outside of the occasional frame-rate slowdown in largely populated areas or views with long draw-distances. There's always a correlation between it and how long the game has been open, no matter what I do in-game or outside of the game. I can be just fine, and after AFK'ing all night in the corner of an empty Gridanian Market Ward, my recasts will be a solid 2~3 seconds premature by the afternoon the next day. I have to assume I must be getting a lot of invisible hiccups when it's running in the background behind a browser... but it's not always in the background when I AFK.
Either way, it shouldn't be happening and it's incredibly frustrating. The game needs to periodically resync itself to your system clock or something...
Backseat drivers yeaaaaaaah! Thanks for the vid. Should add ur sexy voice next time there instead of text bubbles :D
I'm not reading this whole thread. But I just returned to the game today from a short break and holiday. I like most of what I've seen so far. I've done both dungeons and I can see they've been really well done. This is evident that the new development team knows what the fuck they're doing and this game has potential. Though I can see the 30 dungeon being boring as fuck if you keep doing it as your rank 50. I need to work on getting a class to around 30 and find people who want a challenge.
I could bitch about the ARC attack thing, the mage changes or one or two other things in the patch notes but it's been done. However if anyone can tell me how to fix the timer glitch hat Mio mentions that would be useful. I was only logged in for four hours this morning when my timers were already six seconds out, enough to hide any light shot recasts. I had to relog before entering the dungeons. Now my game does occasionally slow down when running through graphically intense areas such as La Noscea with weather and highly populated areas but I'm not sure if that is the cause. I do play windowed and often browse the net while AFKing in-game. I also dual box a lot. I reckon it's a combination of dual boxing and graphical settings but I've not had time to experiment with it yet.
One thing is for sure, the game should not be coded in a way that allows such timer fuck ups. I can live with random slowdowns due to perhaps too high graphical settings or me dual boxing because it's infrequent enough to not be a big issue, but timers should not be affected by that. How hard is it for the game to detect you used X ability so set a new 30 second timer or whatever? Why is it using old variables based on how many seconds you're out of sync? Maybe enough people will bitch about it for it to be fixed now that light shot and darts have recast timers.
Honestly this and 1.19 will definitely make me come back and try the game. It looks like they are starting to implement stuff that should have been there at launch, but at least they are doing something instead of letting the game just die off so I give them credit on that.
1.20 is probably where the game should have been at launch. Hopefully they'll get that far by the one year anniversary.
*brofist*
The combat in that boss fight looked sloooooowwwwww... I know the massive cooldowns on everything hurts the speed of the combat (game is still 75% original FF speed and 25% modern day speed) - I've talked to death about the cooldowns and I won't again - but even the boss attacks slow. I saw way too much of the tank and the boss standing around looking at one another; it was as if it was a late round in a heavyweight match and both fighters were tired and sore and were just pushing out blows when they could muster the strength. I was also not a fan of the dungeon being more of a cave and less of a dungeon, but I also realize that Yoshi-P doesn't exactly have the time to push out new graphical areas just like that, so he gets a free pass on that one. I'm sure you guys who are actually playing the game (re-installing it as we speak) can speak more about the actual battle speed - preferably those of you who play other games outside of SE titles for a true comparison.
Other than those two gripes (and the obligatory DC gripes), it looks good, Kuro. I know I'll at least be able to run around smacking shit with my Lancer and get a few leves done and levels gained, but all of my interest in playing an Archer has gone down the drain until SE gets with the program and allows Archers to do like everyone else and focus on a good rotation (kinda hard to do a rotation or any sort of situational ability pressing when the cooldowns are all so long) instead of having to worry about the arduous and intense task of hitting 1,1,1,1,1 for white damage.
