http://geektyrant.com/news/2012/7/30...er-thor-2.htmlWhen Marvel showed their fans at Comic-Con the test footage Edgar Wright shot for Ant-Man and revealed the logo art for it, we knew that a Ant-Man movie was going to happen. They didn't really officially announce the film, or give it a release date, but the development was obviously far enough along to get fans pumped up that it was coming.
Thanks to our friends at Latino Review, we've learned that Marvel plans on to start shooting Ant-Man in London as soon as they're done filming Thor: The Dark World. So it seems that as soon as Wright is finished directing the next Simon Pegg and Nick Frost film, The World's End, he will jump right into Ant-Man in late spring/early summer 2013. It's looking like the goal for the studio would be to release the movie in 2014, making it the third major Marvel release that year.

http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansit.../news/?a=69067Marvel sure does love to shoot its films in London. The casting call reports tht Avi Arad's Arad Productions along with Edgar Wright's Big Talk Productions are currently in the pre-production stages of the "highly anticipated Marvel Studios action adventure sci-fi thriller feature film 'Ant-Man'". Filming is reportedly scheduled to start January 2013 for a November 6, 2015 release date. I can only speculate that the the early start is to allow Edgar Wright ample time to perfect a tricky character as well as allow the VFX team to nail-down the growing/shrinking visuals. The project will shoot at Pinewood Studios in England, and other locations around London and the United Kingdom.

PHASE 3http://geektyrant.com/news/2013/1/25...phase-thr.htmlEver since it was announced that The Avengers writer/director Joss Whedon has been hired to be a major creative force going forward in the Marvel cinematic universe, we've been looking forward to seeing what the studio plans to do next. We knew that Edgar Wright's Ant-Man would factor into the equation, but we weren't sure how it would fit in the larger picture.
Speaking with MTV, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige filled in some of the gaps:
So knowing that The Avengers 2 hits theaters in May of 2015 and Ant-Man is slated for November of that same year, Ant-Man will be the first Marvel film following the hotly-anticipated sequel and will therefore officially kick off Marvel's Phase Three of movies. Cool.'Ant-Man' is definitely part of Phase Three. Like 'Iron Man 3,' it's certainly set in the Marvel Universe, but it's also through the lens of Edgar Wright — which is the only reason we're making the movie...It's very much an 'Ant-Man' origin movie from the perspective of Edgar Wright and his co-writer Joe Cornish. It will of course be firmly planted in the MCU, but a different corner than we've seen before.
So much of the stories we're telling [right now] is about the core 'Avengers' characters we've now met, and they'll be evolving in big, surprising ways, in Cap's next movie and Thor's next movie and of course in 'Iron Man 3,' as we get them all into the next 'Avengers' film. Beyond that… 'Ant-Man' is the only one officially announced, but you probably don't have to look too far to guess at the next list of characters we're toying with and beginning to develop.

idk how long this will stay up for
Long enough for me to get a boner.
http://geektyrant.com/news/2013/5/2/...man-movie.htmlThe first movie that's been officially announced by Marvel for their phase three plan is Edgar Wright's Ant-Man. It will be the first movie we see after The Avengers 2. That being the case, I think it's safe to assume that Ant-Man will be a part of The Avengers sequel.
Wright has been working on the script for Ant-Man since before the first Iron Man movie was made. Since then, the Marvel cinematic universe has grown, and Kevin Feige has revealed that the script is going through a re-write so that it can be fit in with the rest of the universe. When talking to EW he said,
As most of you know, there's some test footage that's been screened for the film at certain conventions and film festivals, it even leaked out online at one point. If you haven't had the chance to see it, take my word for it when I tell you it's awesome.Frankly, now we have to re-write it to put it a little bit more into the [Marvel Cinematic Universe] because it was written before it existed.
Wright is anxious to start shooting the film, which is scheduled to start next year. They have yet to cast the lead role though, and here's what he had to say about that...
As silly as an Ant-Man movie might sound, it's going to be crazy entertaining. Especially with Wright at the wheel. When talking about the test footage that was shot Feige says,We’ve talked about various names over the past eight years but as you can imagine they keep changing as time goes by. But towards the end of this year, we’ll buckle down and start casting and start refining the script, which is great and which is very Edgar. He has done a great job being incredibly true to the comics but is putting his own spin on it, so we’ll be drawing on multiple mythologies for this one.
Sometimes we take it for granted that people know what we’re doing, Some people don’t get it: ‘Ant-Man …? Is that goofy? What? He talks to ants? What is this…?’ The test real fixes that, Feige says: “Then they suddenly go, ‘Ohhh…’

Sequels to “Thor” and “The Avengers” may be on the horizon at Marvel, but the company’s antennas are increasingly tuned in to Edgar Wright’s “Ant-Man.”
Sources tell Variety the two actors who have emerged as front-runners to land the title role in the superhero feature are Joseph Gordon Levitt and Paul Rudd. Insiders warn there’s still a remote possibility another actor could emerge but as of now, Gordon-Levitt and Rudd are the main contenders for the film.
Marvel recently moved up the release date of the comic-book feature to July 31, 2015 and Wright, following his vacation, tweeted a pre-production photo of the Ant-Man character, which has since reignited the anticipation that an actor would be attached shortly.
The two choices are certainly interesting.
Wright, director of “Shaun of the Dead” and most recently “The World’s End,” appears to want more of an every man actor for the role with a wise-cracking personality rather than a beefed up action hero like Chris Hemsworth or Chris Evans.
Sources indicate the two are expected to meet with Marvel execs and Wright one more time before a decision is made and that there’s also a possibility of another actor entering the mix.
In the comics, the character’s alter-ego was Henry Pym, a brilliant scientist who invented a substance that allowed him to change his size and communicate with insects. One scenario that was rumored early on when Wright first came on is that he would focus on the later years of Ant-Man and add Scott Lang, a crook who steal Pym’s technology and becomes the new Ant-man which may also hint at the idea that both actors could potentially become involved in the film though this idea as of right now seems unlikely.
Wright co-wrote the script with “Attack the Block” director Joe Cornish.
Kevin Feige will produce for Marvel.
I have a feeling that Ant-Man on film will be a lot like Iron Man. In that seeing them in motion will make them way more fun and cooler than comics can do them justice. I'm not saying it will be as successful, but seeing Ant-Man pop up instantly in regular human size next to a bad guy to attack will look great. And if they decide to maybe throw a giant form in towards the end of the movie, that could be fantastic as well.
GIMME DAT RUDD. JGL is a doucheberry.

Paul Rudd is Ant-Man.
The "Anchorman 2" star is in "early negotiations" for the title role in Marvel's forthcoming superhero flick, according to Variety, which earlier reported that both Rudd and Gordon-Levitt (who's now committed to developing a big-screen version of Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" alongside screenwriter David Goyer) were in the running for the part. Edgar Wright ("The World's End") is on board to direct the film from a script he co-wrote with Joe Cornish ("Attack the Block").
excellent
Good lord, that is amazing.
Fuck yea Paul Rudd.
Pepper needs new shorts!!
I would have been fine with either Rudd or JGL. I think both are fantastic actors.
Paul Rudd needs to really get smarter to play Ant-Man.
So you're saying Rudd has to actually increase his intelligence to portray an intelligent character?
