I find that the more I learn about science fact, the harder it is for me to get over the hump and into science fiction that tries to be "real". Point: Aliens who can travel thruogh space, hide in our ocean, create force fields and are superior in technology in every way are somehow going to "lose" to a couple cannon firing battleships. I just can't do it.

It's less sci-fi than it is Navy propaganda. Just like that other movie about the Marines or SEALS or whateverspecialforces that's coming out soon too.

Haha, that too but it wasn't the one I was thinking of. Act of Valor is the name. SEALs go in to rescue somebody terrorists have captive and one of the selling points is that the main actors are all active duty SEALs using real combat tactics or some shit.

There should be a sequel to Independence Day... dealing with the consequences of blowing up a moon-sized object in low orbit, and the fact that there's no way they defeated all the city destroyers/fighters, shields or not.
