Extreme Headache When...

Basically any time I'm aroused, I get a severe headache that can be so painful that it's debilitating. This started about 3 days ago and it has been fairly consistent. The reason it concerns me is because about 19 years ago I had a benign brain tumor removed. The surgery was successful and it was completely removed, but I was advised to get yearly exams to make sure it had not regrown. It has been about 15 years since my last checkup, but these headaches are extremely reminiscent of the headaches that used to occur which lead to the discovery of the tumor in the first place. They can be so extreme that at the peak of the headache I can't think clearly, I develop extreme nausea, and my hands and legs tremble when I try to move them.

I am not currently in a financial situation that would allow me to go get an examination, shits expensive and I have no medical insurance. Basically what I'm wondering is if this is a common occurrence, if it's a symptom of something else, and if I should be legitimately concerned that it may be something serious.

Definitely see a doctor right away, seems likely it's based on blood pressure, but with your history it could be extremely serious.

This is an example of why the US medical systems is so broken... simple checkups to prevent the bigger problems would catch so many things before they get to the point of needing emergency care, which costs 100x more and will be paid for by other people and/or the hospital because so many people have no insurance...

Most hospitals / doctor's offices will let you make a payment plan. Even if you can only pay $5 / month, a hospital really can't turn you away. I realize owing money you can't afford sucks, a lot. But being in debt is better than being dead. And with your medical history, being dead is a legitimate concern.

To add to this, just go to the Emergency Room. They won't (or shouldn't) deny you. I live literally 30 minutes from Mexico, and I see illegals in the ER all the time, no insurance, no money, not even citizens, and they get help, so if YOU can't get help, you gotta be doing it wrong.

Also, I don't believe medical bill debt goes against your credit score, but seriously, that would probably be the last of your concerns lol.

Can't cancerous tumors sometimes be detected by blood workups? If you don't have money find a free clinic they will do blood tests and just give them a detailed idea of your history so they can check.

LOL! Personally, I was paranoid about it, didn't get my first credit card until last year when I was 25. I'm still not a fan, but with they way our system is setup, you have to build credit :/

lol Pretty much what Raytheon said. I don't have any medical insurance either, but I have gone to the ER few times when I needed help. Sure I am about 1,500.00 in debt with them, but I will pay it off sometime Just please go see a doc and get looked at. Stop reading what we post and go, GO!!

op, just go in the er and use a fake name if you are really worried about it. if it is in the right state, the social worker that handles your case may even take pity and help you figure out how to not have to pay for it.
