Yeah, if you're still alive and reading this thread, riddle me this. What state do you live in? I want to say most states have some kind of state-provided free healthcare program (typically for people that don't have money or insurance) that you can apply for. Is this an option for you? My ex is bi-polar and is "disabled" so she doesn't work, but gets free healtcare from Arizona through a program called AHCCSS.

I got food poisoning a couple years ago and went to Urgent Care. They took one look at me, said "you need an IV" - I said "I know." They said "Oh, we don't do that here, you have to go to the ER."

3 hours in an ER bed, 3 liters of saline and an anti-nausea medication later, I had a bill for $8300.

Now, I could've handled it kinda, had maybe 5k in the bank and could've financed the rest, but that's fucking ridiculous. I hid some assets, filed for "charity care" through the hospital, and they wrote off the entire thing - no credit damage.

Call around to doctors, if you can't find someone to see you without insurance, go to the ER.

A hospital cannot charge you more than what is "reasonable and necessary" by law, I have seen people who are unemployed/no insurance/disabled get charity write-offs for their medical bills. Ffs, go to the doctor, especially if you are having symptoms from your previous condition...

    I think it's definitely Lupus.

That being said, please go to the hospital. Now.

lol uh, ignoring the pretty obviously facetious advice from kerb, just weigh your options. in this case, it's take on debt or die. pick!
he worded it humorously, but the message is pretty spot on. if you can't afford to pay it, just don't worry about it. what are they going to do? show up and shoot you for not paying? throw you in prison?
worst thing that could happen: the social workers are lazy/apathetic and dont help and some day possibly if you ignore enough letters they could try to garnish wages.

apparently, in 6 states (Minnesota, Arkansas, Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, and Washington) you can be jailed for not paying your debts. point remains though, it's better to take on the debt than die, unless death is your preference.

I wonder how fast the OP can become Canadian?

Also, The OP reminded me of this

    Need to caption

"I have the weirdest boner right now"

I'm wondering if this might also be heart related?

This is what I'm terrified of, I'm already in a large amount of medical debt that I can't afford from a hospital stay due to pneumonia last year. I can't afford to have my wages garnished.

Basically the reason I posted this was to see if anyone had heard of a similar situation that would somewhat put my mind at ease until I could figure out what to do. By similar situation I don't mean the brain tumor, but the extreme headaches that occur when, to probably be more accurate, my heart rate is increased (I've been laid off and the original scenario has really been the only time when my heart rate has been increased).

Do what you need to do for your health.

If the bills are too much, file for bankruptcy. It will fuck up your credit for 7 years, but are you really in a position to make significant purchases with the debt you're in over that period of time?

Have you contacted the hospital about a payment plan? Even if you offer to pay them $10 / month and stress to them that this is all you can afford at the current time with the intention of increasing that when you can afford it better, sometimes that's enough to get them to leave you alone if you keep sending in your $10 / month. Filing for bankruptcy, as Archie said, is also a reasonable option. Don't think of it as something that's beneath you, many people fall into bankruptcy for medical reasons.

Have you tried doing something to increase your heart rate that doesn't involve arousal to be sure? Jogging in place, pull ups, sit ups? It shouldn't take long to figure out if the headaches are going to show up or not or if it's actually tied to arousal. If nothing else, that might be useful information to have when you go see the doctor.

you really should go talk to either a lawer that is familar with these types of cases or a social worker at the hospital when you go in about your current problem. it depends on where you are but there may be some way out there to get you help either making the debt manageable or taken care of. there are alot of variables to it, and where you are is a huge one.
also, i'm pretty sure they have to take you to court multiple times (at least twice) before steps like garnishing wages happens. just show up to court when you are summoned and toss money at it when you can to show good grace.

paraphased: go talk to someone that you can give specifics to, & get specifics from.

"Sex headaches" aren't terribly uncommon. Occasionally I'll get a dull, throbbing pain the the back of my head, that builds as I approach orgasm. They're allegedly benign.

That said, if your pain is debilitating, there's an exceptional chance you have something more serious, especially if you have a history of brain tumors (obviously).

I work in an ER and a case like yours would set off alarms like crazy given your medical history. I doubt the doc will let you go without at least a CT scan, possibly even an MRI.

I've seen many people refuse to sign and just leave the ER without giving their information. In my state, no matter what your situation is, we CANNOT refuse care.

    Good luck.

This as well. I had "sex headaches" at one point and I went to the Doc at the very least, and he just told me to stop doing things that would give me an orgasm. Including masturbation, for a few days.

Unless I'm misreading this, they certainly do. The hospital messed up on paperwork when I gave birth to my first child, and so the bill was not paid. I repeatedly wrote to them to correct the mistake, but they ended up filing it as unpaid on my credit report and trying to take me to court. I got a lawyer, and never heard from the hospital again after the lawyer sent them a letter with the same information I had been sending them. Unfortunately, the hospital never removed the bill from my credit report either... >.>

Wow, good to know. I may have gotten that confused with getting a security clearance, those kinds of debts are treated different.
