first impressions; wtf at choice of music at the very start menus. Seems really off for this genre

Lesson one learned; Save constantly
The game autosaves a lot, but apparently if you die, you can only load from your own manual save, or a checkpoint(which is a lot less frequent than autosaves.

Lesson two; Don't hoard food. Food actually goes bad lol

What's the point of an autosave if you can't load from them?

I forget but I seem to recall that when you die there are three options, Retry, Retry from last autosave, and Quit? Am I remembering that second one wrong? Does it say something else and I am confusing it with autosave? Going to pick up my 360 copy soon, then hopefully head home and get some play in.

EDIT: Now that I think about it I think it is "Retry from last checkpoint". Wonder if that is the same thing essentially.

Options are
Retry (restart from the point you last saved the game.)
Retry from last Checkpoint (Restart from the last automatically-saved checkpoint)
Return to Title Screen

and Checkpoints are not the same as the autosaves. I got to Gran Sauron or w/e it's called and went to the pawn guild place. Got a check point when I got there. Talked to the dude and started his quest, went down into Everfall and I saw it autosave at least three times while I was down there. Died to a giant troll and it started me off right as if I never started the dude's quest.

If you die, you can retry from an auto save. I got myself stuck exploring last night and took 3 tries to get around a ton of wolves. You only auto save at certain places and make sure when you click your retry option, it's not the one that says "From an Inn or Rift".

yeah, Hex is right. They could have worded the description of "Retry" better though.

Has anyone who has played gotten past the Everfall place in Gran Sauron yet?

I make the giant tentacles appear and then do I just get the fuck out? I stayed and fought and killed them all, and none reappeared for a few seconds, but then they all appeared again and then 2 of my 3 pawns died and I couldnt rescue them so then I decided to run all the way back up and they started chasing me and shooting fire balls at me. I didn't make it very far before I died. I'm assuming I should just run asap and then fight them with my full party as we make our escape.
I just don't know what I'm gonna do when I have to pass the giant woman-raping troll on my way back up since I just ran past it on the way down.

If this is the area underneath Gran Soren, I just got there. The zombies are a bitch. The Giant/Troll fell off the side of the area and died, thankfully. Once the rape tentacles appear, the quest updates to "Report back to Barnaby". Headed back now without killing them.

Can't argue with this character creator, although that kind of makes me more annoyed you can't have multiple saves/characters. Really thorough though.

People are saying you can just transfer your save to a USB and make a new character.

Just got to play for a few minutes. The menu music... I don't even know. The game itself seems about what I was expecting, though I only finished through the part where you can get a pawn and do a few training quests. Looking forward to later when I get sit down and put a few solid hours into it.
