You need two items for fast travel, right? Ferry Stones I've found for sale, but what's the other one and where is it?

I guess they're just found in certain dungeons. they giant bomb guy found one at the very end of the quicklook after going through the dungeon with the gryphon at the end

and you can fast travel back to grand Aaron anytime with just the ferrystone. it is going anywhere else that requires the second thing

Yup normal Ferrystones take you to the Portcrystal in Gran Soren. Later on you will find a Portcrystal that you can put down anywhere you like, then your Ferrystone will give you the option to go to that location OR Gran Soren.

My PSN is Eleven19, working on equipping a tank pawn. Just set up most of the skills she could learn. Red head :D borrow if you like, name's Aria.

Is this game as hard as my friend is making it out to be? I haven't known him too long so idk what kind of a gamer he is but with how difficult games have been these days, I'm thinking he probably just sucks and/or is a casual gamer

So what are other ways to earn Rift Crystals besides through your pawn?

EDIT: Oh you get some through quests. Quest amounts are so miniscule though.

My tank pawn who I've spent a lot of money decking out is pretty popular, usually every time I rest at an Inn I get 2-6k RC points because people are using him.

Anyone figure out what the Journal Entry pages and Ogre tactics vol. 1 are for? Found the Ogre book in a chest deep in Everfall, and I've got several different numbered Journal Entry pages from various places.

two tome/pages things I got I was able to combine with various items (one was a piece of a broken sword or something) and make a new item that had a magical effect.

I think that is the important thing here, what kind of gamer they are. I can see it being pretty hard for some people, maybe even for most. I am actually kind of bummed that my friend cancelled his pre-order because of a few of the reviews that came out in the last few days. Witcher 2 was too hard for him on Easy mode though, so maybe this game is too hard for him. The lack of atmosphere seemed to be a big thing to him... whatever. I do think that if you don't do things in a sensible way, then yeah it is a bitch. Like I said before, this game isn't holding your hand at all. You are bound to head off in the wrong direction once or twice or 5 times if you aren't really being cautious. Personally I love the challenge. I haven't found myself in way over my head and in teh wrong areas like so many people seem to be. If you stay where near where you are doing the main story quests, skip Escort Quests unless you KNOW that the location you are heading to is possible for you and generally just refresh or swap out pawns... it isn't that bad.

I also read a lot of people whining about how dumb the pawns are and I really think that is down to the players being dumbasses and lazy too. When you recruit a pawn you can see all the skills that they will be bringing to your team. Heard someone whine about how their pawn wouldn't even cast fire on their weapons, only ice. Then don't fucking get one that has Ice? Just get one that has Fire? Hard. So hard. I look for pawns that seem to be at least halfway decently equipped, and maybe 1-2 levels above me. Make sure that they compliment each other or make sense for where you are going. If you are heading into the crypts a Fire or Holy buffing mage is a must. Just... don't be fucking stupid.

Months ago I was disappointed in the pawn system when I heard it was going to be the stand-in of sorts for co-op, but after playing the game for a few hours and using different pawns, I'm really starting to see just how interesting this dynamic could be.. and so far that's just on three basic classes, lol. With so many people playing and raising their own pawns, possibilities are fairly limitless and you'll always be able to create the right party for a given situation, down to the skills and even .. I guess you'd call it AI experience you'd need.

Wish I wasn't so damn tired, can't wait to spend my day off tomorrow really getting into the thick of the game instead of running between the first town and camp lol.

Yes and no. The problem with this game is it gives you no indication whatsoever of what to expect in a quest or a dungeon until you're actually there and more or less can't turn back. Once you know what's ahead and how to prepare for it, it' actually not that bad; problem is you won't know that the first time you go anywhere.

The post about the escort quest I made a page or two ago is a pretty good example. It's just another quest among the dozen or so you can grab the first time you arrive at the main city in the game. There's no indication it's any harder or longer than the other quests you get (in fact, the listed reward is actually smaller than most other quests, giving you the impression it must be a quick and easy quest). Then only once you actually try to do it you find out that it takes forever to do and the monsters on the way will tear your party to shreds if you do that quest before any of the others. If you do all the other optional quests first and gain 5~6 levels, then it's a lot more doable. This game is full of shit like that.

Another example: yesterday I played till about lv16 using a strider main/tank pawn, and hired 2 mage pawns. After a certain point, everything seemed way too hard to kill and my mages couldn't stay alive for more than 5 seconds against anything worth fighting. Today I just restarted the game with a mage main/healer pawn instead and hired 2 tanks. All the hard early enemies are weaker to magic than they are to physical attacks, and the AI is much better at tanking and healing than it is at DD. Once I figured that out, everything became dramatically easier. As a mage, I'm now 2~3 shotting all the bandits that I couldn't even put a scratch on with my strider. I even took a Lv10 party with no problems into an area my strider just couldn't manage to get past at 15.

I'm sure there will be more similar "gotchas" later on in the game. So the game isn't hard per se, it just wants to be played a particular way. Once you figure things out, it's not that hard. But if you try something else or don't know what to do, everything will be a lot more difficult.

Just finished an Escort quest. Good god the amount of deaths/reloads. Killed a Cyclops and a Chimera along the way. Ran into a thieve's fort ran by women. Things were going well until one of my Pawns threw a blastbomb into the middle of everyone. Ran into some Bones and another Chimera, I ended up just sprinting from there to the destination. Was tedious to say the least. One cool thing about the Skeleton enemies, you can 1 shot them by throwing bigger rocks at them. Didn't have any smaller ones or a brick on me to see how they would do.

So I feel dumb but I cant figure out how to recruit my friends main pawns nor can they recruit mine. Do you have to complete a quest or something before this can happen? We all three have pawns but they aren't showing up in the riftstone under friends pawns.

For tactics pages, use them like an item and it will teach all your pawns about that particular mob.

Also, just beat the game last night

    major post-game spoilers
    Spoiler: show

Kind of felt like it ended too early. I never even saw a regular wyrm until I saw the final boss. Also, I never even visited the entire entire to the west of Greatwall, nor did any of the quests in there.

For those who have already beaten the game, do you know what "dragon forged" does? So far it seems like it just designates all of the items that you were wearing when you beat the game. I haven't been able to find any stat changes.

Right now I'm working on that world between worlds that you go to after the duke tries to kill you.
