Creating a paypal account and adding a CC to it isnt that hard.I myself spent most of the day today getting it to work but future says relativly easy in the future now.
Census says ppl angry mostly cause of the odd amounts of crysta? imho the paypal payment system eliminates the 3D Verified bullshit thru pol viewer for me atleast,and now is just an easy get some crysta every month or just not play. Also not ever having to worry about an overdraft thru my bank ever
again is quite nice. 33$ NSF sucks alot more then 3min to buy crysta.but im sure change is bad for some ppl who play way to many chars.my apologies for ur pain.

People are upset because there's no way to just give SE your money. Currently you have to go through C&B which is out of the question for most people. Crysta is pissing people off because not only can you not pay in a direct sum, you have to manually add funds every month just so it can immediately be taken away again.

People are pissed because SE has made it inconvenient to pay them for what some use as nothing more as glorified chat room. Some people who still pay are ok with that because the dollar amount is so low it's worth it, but no one is going to bend over backwards to pay for a chatroom.

It really isn't that bad. Really. Yes, this is a big, inconvenience, but everyone who plays FFXI should be very used to this guy. As someone who had to deal with a non 3D Secure credit card, this is not any more inconvenient that what I am used to.

If you have a PayPal account, all you have to do is get it verified which is a simple process. As Karbuncle said on the official forums very much trying to be the voice of reason:

If you do it via Crysta, the leftover crysta stays in your account, So every ~2/3 months you basically get a "Free month" from leftover Crystal if you buy 20$/month

You could alternatively buy 5$ and 10$ worth and only spend 15 instead of 12.95, thats a variation of $2.05, which any good budget should allow room for, especially considering if you're only paying 12.95 (1 account) in 6 months you have neough "Leftover" crysta to pay for 1 month, and you get that money back.

Yes, it is slightly more inconvenient, but it is well within the level of inconvenience that is tolerable. Just use PayPal instead of ClickAndBuy and life will be fine.

The 3-D stuff could be bypassed so that was a non-issue. Setting up three Crysta accounts and overpaying all three of them every month giving them money for a service that may or may not get used is bullshit and I'm not doing it.

I think it's more along the lines of the forum mods/whatever they are (I don't browse their forums) don't really know how to respond, so they can't respond at all. I'm sure they (hopefully, they fucking better have) have sent that information over to the people that need to see it so that it can be addressed. I hope.

This a thousand times over. After this, I'm out. There can be nothing that will bring me back.

I do have to honestly question the rationality of the company. I 'understand' why one would do this for monetary gain, but I do not see the logic in alienating one of the smallest mmorpg communities [But which has proved to be one of the most loyal.] Considering what SE has been through monetarily in the last few years due to: the failed earnings of their sprpgs; failed launch of a "next gen" mmorpg; the earthquake/tsunami; poor stock earnings company wide on all games... I just can't see this as being something that would be a long term strategy for the company.

I'm out. 3 chars cancelled, 8 mules cancelled. I'm sure I'll always hold fond memories, but I think that's what they want.

Linked my US Account to EU SE ID I used for FF14 with 3000 Crysta on it, instead of my CC getting cockblocked in POL and having to paypal someone else money every month. My life is all rainbows and ponies right now.

Do I have to do this shit or can I just leave it alone and still get charged every month like I have been for years... ??
