Don't be stupid, of course they're not allowing JPs to continue to pay via direct debit out of favouritism (even if SE does appear to care more about JP players, which has been evident since the year dot). There probably is a legitimate reason for it in SE's mind, but that doesn't change the fact that it's outrageous and they should remedy the situation as quickly as possible for their own sake. After all, a "legitimate reason" in SE terms is usually something that's fairly simple to overcome.

Yeah, I doubt it's "we like JP more than you lot" or something, but I really wanna know how they justify this. I don't like feeling like I'm being ripped off and taken for a ride, and that's how this news makes me feel, so I really hope they fix it for us non-JP accounts to pay directly or pick exact amounts of Crysta ASAP.

I would wonder if the differences in the U.S. / Euro / Japanese countries banking laws etc. have a big impact on what they can and can't do with this.

If SE gets to be stupid why can't I? The image shows the code for the JP SE ID site with CC info is already on it, all it takes is a little tweak (translation) to dump it on the other SE ID regions. Whatever "valid" excuse they can come up is as valid as me calling them racists.

(and yes I am aware you pretty much agree with what I said, just in a less raging manner =) )

I could get behind SE not playing favorites if it was not for the crysta purchasing thing. I would love to have an explanation as to why JPs can buy it in 1 dollar equivalents and we cannot. Seems like blatant favoritism to me...

They are playing favourites to an extent by not putting in the required effort to give everyone access to the same payment methods, however we're saying it won't have been the deciding factor. No one at SE HQ will have sat down in a meeting and said "ok, we're changing the payment method, but let's give our JP players the option to continue paying via direct debit because we're more committed to them". There will be a reason for it. Whether or not it's a legitimate reason (as Gwynplaine says it could be something to do with international banking laws, although I doubt it) is a different issue.

while maybe, MAYBE I could see that with the CC issues...that doesn't at all justify the fact we have to buy crysta in bulk and they don't. I can't in any way imagine how it is less of an effort to do it for them than it is for us.

Quick question about this. If I transfer today and set up with crysta will I have to buy said crysta before the 1st of the month to play in August, or can I wait till end of Aug to buy it and Aug will be charged to my CC as normal? Just wondering about this cuz I don't want to go buy crysta then my card get charged for August like normal.
