Fair warning to those who actually choose the Click and Buy, unless things have changed from when XIV launched to actually cancel their services with them you actually have to write them an email saying you wish to cancel your services so they stop billing you monthly.
It may be a tad more specific than that, and if someone knows the specifics a little more by all means please jump in.

I figure the reason for the 3D secure and not accepting non-JP cards is because of the the credit card fraud that's gone on over the years. I imagine they were able to pinpoint majority of the fraud occurring outside of Japan. When it came down to them outsourcing the payments for a variety of reasons, I guess they decided accepting Japan credit cards still worked in their favor.

I don't know much about Click and Buy... but the sign up process was simple for me... I have 2 Square Enix accounts over 4 POL accounts, and I didn't have trouble transferring all 4. For what it's worth, when I donated to the Tsunami thing, Click and Buy didn't charge me any overhead:

Debit card only showed a $30 charge. Unless it's changed, they don't charge any extra for SE stuffs~

Hmm... I'm pretty sure SE was rated very low at some point. They must have figured out how to change it.

If you look at all of their complaints, it's approximately the same "we can't help you" form letter.

They were rated an F, and they did figure out how to change it.

It's simple. Just become a BBB accredited business. That's all there is to it.

The process to become an accredited business very complex.. Just write the BBB a check. Problem solved. Check ripoffreport.com or bbbroundup.com for details on how accredited members get high grades (including terrorist organizations like HAMAS).

This is all Square-Enix had to do to increase their grade with the BBB..

The BBB also gives companies that refuse to become accredited a lower grade, but that's a different story/scam.

So after attempting to register w/ Clickandbuy, having my email and CC verified and sending them everything but a sample of blood my acct is STILL blocked. So I decide to try buying Crysta... I register w/ Paypal and get everything setup and when i go to "Check out with Paypal" and it just opens a blank window. So, that's not working. Being really smart, I decide to just go to the UltimatePay site and try to just do it from there. I finally am able to submit my payment annnnnnnnnd they decline the CC lol... I use this CC all the time, have today, b4 and after i attempted to with Ultimatepay.

Why are they making it so hard for us to give them money?


(I never ever had any problems making payments with POL... just sayin....)

I am still in the process of verifying my husband's new PayPal account, hoping to be able to still pay using our Korean credit card without paying an extra 5.9% currency exchange fee from Click&Scam. If they won't accept the Korean CC, I'll use my own PayPal account and use my US credit card or bank account, even though transferring money to the US for it sucks balls and I can only do it about 2x a year...

Really, I'd be perfectly happy using PayPal for Crysta if I could set it up as a recurring automatic payment and for the exact amount needed... which is exactly what the JP are allowed to do.

I'm kind of wary of this C&B service... Has anyone found the options to pay directly? I don't have Paypal or any other service. I want to deal directly with SE only if possible. And not that Crysta crap because that's nickel and dime bullshit of a service. Reminds me of when MS sold points in $5 increments when everything sold was in $4 increments. Basically you had to spend at least $20 to zero out.

2. buy crysta but choose UltimatePay
3. register etc etc Im not sure if u need to register but theres a tab that says "More Payment option" when it direct you to ultimatepay page
4. CHOOSE PAYPAL w00t
5. pay like u do any paypal transaction
6. if u dont have a paypal acct, make 1, and register. May take some days as they uses credit card statement for verification as well.

I'm pretty sure your paying for July, and the reactivation fees. Don't worry though I'm in the same boat, reactivated this month, just to not be able to play until this months cycle ends from what I'm gathering. Keep getting an error message saying I need to transfer my POL id when I go to log into XI, then in the SE management, unable to do so until fees have processed blah blah blah.

So, far as I can tell, Eff'd til the First!

And to add more salt in the wounds, not only CC but any amount of Crysta you want to buy, you can. At least that option has to go on USA/EU sites NOW! Add a little tickbox for automated Crysta adding on Paypal (which has A+ rating on that site unlike similar type of company click&fuck) and all is good. I'm not transfering shit until the end of August. Chance I won't at all even after seeing this JP bs and me even thinking about quitting FFXI isn't something I would have thought I'd ever say, so good game SE. I'm going to wait to see a response from SE on this, which if they read their fucking forums is bound to happen.

That's when the Crystas will be used.

That is the case if you Transfer your IDs.

Personally, I will not transfer my IDs until the billing cycle for August is over. Once I pay as I normally would with my CC, then I will transfer them. I have until 31st, why do it now. If by then this whole payment clusterfuck is not resolved and I have no options to continue paying, then that's that. I'm tired of jumping through SE's hoops for the past 7 years.

Tbh it comes as a shock that SE with all their effort to be in touch with their playerbase, would still continue alienate them with poor customer service. On top of that, why would you go in business with someone like Click & Buy?

After reading this thread i came to some conclusions:

- SE can't handle billing, so they outsourced it to C&B... for better or worse
*C&B only charges you 3.9% when you pre-load your "C&B account" using YOUR credit card, (I.E. I want to transfer 200$ onto my C&B account using my best buy visa card)
For the monthly recuring charges that SE will use, there won't be any extra fees, just your standard 12.95 + a buck for each mule
- Crysta sucks, the fact that it expires is what really sucks, because even buying 20$ worth, to cover your one account, which only costs 17 dollars, in 5 months, you would basically have earned a month, while not free, your "free" from the constraints of remembering to "login and load crysta" .... but it expires, so they get your money
Crysta is the worst thing about this situation.

I actually like the account managment website, it seems secure and it seems to run fairly well, it is still a bit confusing, but after realizing that C&B won't charge me an extra 3.9% each month, I can't say that it has been such a bad thing.

Now the lack of other country support is faggotish, considering they make you use paypal, but you can't do the direct bill thing like with C&B, instead your forced into the crysta scam.... shit is very poor customer service
