I have a NA POL ID but linked to a EU SE account. The only payment option appears to me is C&B. I thought maybe if I had some Crysta the option would appear, so I tried buying and gives me this error message:
ERROR (11000) This is an invalid operation. Please log in again from the top page.

Anyone knows why?

I'm sorry to ask this, and I hope no one takes this the wrong way... But is the major problem people have due to not wanting to use Click and Buy?

The biggest reason I can't/won't use Click and Buy is because they don't support my current country (Korea) and even if they did, there is a 5.9% currency exchange fee for paying in one currency and needing a different one. My ONLY option is PayPal and Crysta, which means I will be overpaying every month due to the need to buy Crysta in bulk.

I found some new interesting info for people worried about that extra dime you are giving SE with Crysta by going to 30 day rates. Also JP pay taxes on FFXI where most other people don't. Wish I could put that on my taxes

Just want to point out this is saying 11.95 PLUS 1 dollar per character, the first character is not included in the 11.95, the price for main sub and one char is still staying at 12.95

A copy of the letter I just sent to SE customer service. I suggest everyone upset over the billing changes writes them with your own story, so that as many people as possible at SE know we are angry.

I felt the need to comment on the upcoming changes to billing methods.

I understand that you are trying to save money by contracting with another company to handle credit cards in the US, but you have alienated a large amount of your playerbase by choosing Click&Buy as your partner. They have overwhelmingly bad reviews wherever I have checked, and they do not allow credit cards to be used from a LARGE number of countries that were formerly allowed using the old billing system, including my own. I am a US citizen with a US account, but moved to Korea several years ago. I had no problem registering my new Korean credit card to pay for my 3 accounts using the old system, but that option is now removed from me with these changes.

I will be forced to use PayPay via UltimatePay, it is the only service you allow that can take my credit card now. By using PayPal, I must buy Crysta every month, there is no recurring payment system for me. I also cannot buy Crysta for exactly the amount I will need, I will have to overpay and leave a small amount of Crysta in my account to "roll over." Japanese players do not have this limitation, they can pay for exactly the amount of Crysta they need, or they can still pay via credit card directly with recurring payments.

I may be forced to cancel all 3 of my accounts over this billing issue, and I know for a fact that I am not the only one. All over the forums that I read, official and unofficial, there are people who have already cancelled, and many more plan to cancel soon. We are your customers, but this change seems designed to make us angry and make it much harder for us to give you our money.

Please add the option to continue paying you directly on a recurring basis if we are using credit cards already allowed under the current system. If this is not possible, please make it possible to buy Crysta in the exact amounts we need and on a recurring schedule.

On another note, I still cannot access FFXI directly from my Korean IP address. I must pay an extra $60 a year for a VPN service to play this game, and only this game. If I am forced to pay extra for Crysta every month because of your odd bulk amounts, my husband WILL force me to cancel our accounts. Perhaps it is time to remove the region block from your servers, since RMT is largely dead in this game. There are far more people participating in RMT within the US and Europe than ever did from Korea. I might even start playing FFXIV if the region block was removed...

People are seriously making a bigger deal over this than it really is.

As far as click and buy goes, most of the bad reviews I see from it are simply people who do not understand how the service works.

and as someone on the official forums pointed out. It could take some people 9 years for them to break even with crysta. Maybe you're ok giving a company money for nothing but the majority are not.

on top of all the inconviniences the new system brings, i will have to pay 1.4 times of what i used to due to the current euro/us dollar exchange rate if i can't choose to pay in pounds. fuck that... now that i still can't go far in the process due to the "account not processed yet for this month" error, i don't know if i can choose pound. since i would still pay the exchange fee either way if there is one, it would be the cheaper option for me (1.3 times cheaper than euro option). could anyone confirm it for me, please?

I did mine Wednesday night while logged in and when I tried to log in yesterday evening it was asking for the SE ID username and password. I received an email in about 10 minutes that stated it was migrated.

Anyone successfully use the Ultimate Game card yet? FFXI isn't listed on the list of compatible games on the UGC site, just scared to waste money on the card if it doesn't work.

I don't, I play usually for about 4-5 months then go to other mmos for various extended times.

As is, this "sort of" was a good thing because at this rate I was about to lose 3k crysta that I had initially put in for 14 and then never used. How many people were going to play 14, put crysta in, realized the game sucked (and it never went p2p) and forgot about it?

Especially the people who don't even play 11. Yet those crysta are going to expire in a year now. The whole thing is insanely flawed.

What is so hard to grasp about the concept of us being pissed because Japanese can pick their amount of Crysta and we can not?! Besides the fact Japanese can still pay with CC, the Crysta in bulk is the biggest bullshit I have ever seen. If you gonna fuck us over, at least fuck over the whole world.

I have always said I'd be playing this game till the servers go offline, but that doesn't mean SE should get more money than they deserve, no matter how many times I will break even in the next few years, especially when people 10k miles from my house do get the honest treatment.

Oh this is cute, I'd be in the same boat if I transfer and hell no that I'm going with Click&Buy.
Edit: Maybe you can't purchase Crysta in your country, seems that was was in the fineprint too. I remember back with FF14 that they had a list of nations that could use Crysta.

Hate to be the pessimist here, but I'm expecting them to just do a reply along the lines of "We do not officially service your country bla bla bla" and ignore the actual problem at hand.


As for me, going with the Crysta route. I'd rather not test if my bank has any problems with C&B, so UltimatePay via PayPal for overpaying on Crysta it is. At least both my accounts are linked to the same SE ID.....

How do you suppose I am not losing money? Money in my account means I can invest it any way I'd like and earn more money with it. Extra money that is mine but in some bullshit Crysta account means I can no longer make interest on it, and SE can. That means I lose money. No matter how small or insignificant it may seem, it's the principle of the matter. If they turned to us and flat out said "Your account fee has gone up" then I'd be alright with that.
But this Crysta bullshit is just them trying to scam their loyal customers and I'm not fucking doing it.

I used an Ultimate Game Card for my first month to try it out. It works fine. Even though FFXI isn't listed on UGC you sign up for a free PlaySpan account there. Sign into SE's Account management, if you bought a $20 UGC choose to purchase $20 in Crysta. You'll be directed to sign into UGC via your Playspan account then you enter the 10 digit code from the back of the UGC. This will then convert the $20 in UGC to $20 in Crysta, then done. Hope that makes sense.
