get a friggin gift card. If I can do it with a visa gift card I grab at walgreens down the road because my bank is being bitchy, just go that route. Deal. Yes, its annoying, but deal. Seriously, its a game and we all know their customer service blows. Do we need 42 pages more of hearing this?
I was bitching about the same thing a few months ago, but decided instead of continue to whine at a forum about something that obviously isn't going to be changed I'd just go with the flow and do what did work. So like I said, drive down the road to Target, et al, and just get a Visa/Amex gift card. Do you have to pay that damn fee for it? Yeah, it sucks, its bad business practice, and it isn't fair. But you know how you show displeasure in the real world? Stop giving them your business. You know what you do if you want to continue to give them your business, have complained, and nothing has changed? Bend over, and take it.

Well SE finally remembered that my password was correct but I see no option for buying crysta. did i have to buy that first for it to even come as an option?
TBH I have a hard assed time finding that every time I try and buy it. Could just be you're not seeing it, so make sure that's not the case. Sounds silly I know, but hey, it has honestly happened to me at least 3 times since July.
That doesn't sound very encouraging><. I don't want to buy any before I figure out how to set it as my default option since I dont trust SE enough to think they wouldn't autocharge my card and then leave me with crysta not being spent, or leave me unable to spend the crysta in the first place. Plus if they try to double bill me or try to take extra money it's easier to notice than checking my bank statement every 3 months.
I'm also more likely to forget to cancel my payments if I'm going on a vacation vs just letting crysta run out.
Wtf is this crap? SE is charging me 12 bucks to play SE and $1 to have a main character? the 1$ fee used to be for mules only with the main fee covering 1 character.
Sorry, I'm in Japan, I can't walk right down the street to a Taget and buy a Visa/Amex gift card. I used a different browser with no no-script, and it still failed. I even tried click and buy / and paypal, click and buy blocked my account right off the bat and every paypal payment has failed. This is pretty rediculous. I might need someone in the states to get a card for me.
Re: Celebrindor, If you buy it with a PayPal account, they don't ask for card information. The option is called something like Add Crysta. When you pay for your characters, you get to pick recurring billing via card, or Crysta.
Log in and on the side is Add Crysta. (Register/Update payment method will let you add a card to recur instead). Specify an amount you want to add and click next. Then you can use Click & Buy (which will ask for a card) or UltimatePay (which will give you an option to use PayPal, a VISA/Mastercard, or a prepaid points card). Once you have Crysta, you hit Select Service on the side and pick Content IDs to reactivate. As long as you have Crysta in sufficient quantity, they will auto-renew. Otherwise they shut down at midnight PST after your 30th day (which crashed my game mid-party).
It's really not hard to find, you just have to read the options.

They just now break it down into $11.95 for FFXI and $1 for the character slot, since their new system bills for each character slot, and thus it needs to be there. It's still exactly the same cost as before, but you can't have FFXI active with no characters.
Naw, he's getting blocked because he's using a US credit card + paypal account from outside the US. SE pushes everything (including the paypal transactions) through a payment processor that blocks the transaction and flags it as fraudulent if the requesting location doesn't match the country on the account. They told me that you build up infraction points for every attempt in this way and those points slowly fade.
It has been 2 months since my card got infracted and I still can't use it with them, so I guess I am using UltimateGameCards for the foreseeable future.
Yeah I sent in an inquiry in to clickandbuy and miraculously they knew that the problem was you can only use SquareEnix NA inside of the US. I just had to remotely log into a computer in the US and the transaction went through fine on clickandbuy.
You got lucky. They also check for proxies.
Yes, but remote desktops aren't proxies. I keep a laptop running a VNC connection so I can use my dad's connection if something is blocked on mine, since we have different ISPs, and he has a faster connection. If I was out of country, that would be the way I would use sites that require a US IP address. I just take control of it at will, in a window on my main system.
Grrrr I want to be able to do that!
SquareEnix: Making it harder to give us your money since 2003.
So I haven't been able to log into my FF since last weekend (I assume April 1st).
I made an SE Account and linked it to my POL ID month ago but clearly that's not enough. I'm thinking it is maybe a payment issue ... I've linked my credit card on my SE Account but it doesn't seem like that has really done anything ... I haven't been charged for FF this month yet. I'm in Canada ... Thanks ... that worked. I feel like an idiot lol. Now I need to reactivate my Content IDs ... is that even possible before Monday of next week?
Edit: How does reactivating Content IDs even work now ... I'm being sent to my SE Account page ... but where is the actual option for reactivating?
Edit2: nvm, figured it out. There's more options now that I've got the my POL ID fully transferred.
Going against my better judgement i decided to transfer account and continue playing and now i regret decision. Have been trying to log in for 2hrs and continue to get msg. "The Square Enix ID, Square Enix password, or one-time password entered is incorrect." I have not changed any login info so only thing is the Token option and i cannot get it removed or turned off on the SE Acct site any ideas why?
