If you enter the wrong one three times it will lock you out for about an hour without telling you.
Still nothing with changing passwords...... POL passwords are different from the ones used for SE account right?
Gonna take a break from this before PC ends up in front yard![]()
Yes they are, if you have your POL PW saved make sure its updated.
"Incorrect Playonline ID or password" over and over again no matter what i do
i guess i will troll the masses and hope to find out what i doing wrong. Ty both for trying to help out.
Who the fuck would want to play this game anyway
Has anyone used something other than paypal or a credit card to use the UltimatePay/Crysta method (like say, amazon payments)?
Today I went to put money in my paypal with a greendot moneypack like I normally do, and was asked for identifying information including my social security number. After checking to make sure no redirects were involved, I went through because, I needed more crysta before the month is out. But now, I would really really like to get out from under paypal, FFXI is the only thing I'm using it for.
Do I have to have credit before I can transfer? I can log into my POL but it won't let me transfer on the SE website.
Still no auto pay~?
Go to select service, select the account and you'll see your current payment method, click edit, and you'll get to this screen, click Credit Card / Debit card, click next, it'll tell you to enter your card info and that's it.

Yes. Be very clear because it can be easily confusing.
SQUARE-ENIX I.D. and SQUARE-ENIX PASSWORD
are not the same distinction as
PLAYONLINE I.D. and PLAYONLINE PASSWORD
This is something that had tripped up me and I'm sure a lot of people at one point. You can, of course, set both passwords to be the same thing you type in.
The only possibility for you I can think of: did you change your passwords recently? Is it possible that the password you're trying to put in is longer than the max possible password length?
I did this one time before the security tokens were out I changed it to some super random long password. Copy/pasted it in, then couldn't figure out why it wouldn't let me login. My password was TOO LONG and ommitting the end digits. So somewhere it didn't match. Maybe make sure your passwords are within the proper length.
Hello some assistance would be appreciated.
Ok so my situation is that I will likely be moving to Korea in the next few months. I have lived in California the entirety of my time playing FFXI. I called SE customer service to see what issues I may face in trying to continue playing out there, and he told me that performance-wise it would make no difference; might even be better as I will be closer to the servers in Japan. Where I would face issues is with billing; I could no longer use my American credit cards as it would raise fraud alarms with my bank and have it automatically blocked. I would have to buy Crysta and pay for my account with that, the best option being to buy game cards in America and have them sent to me in Korea.
I read through the discussion in the past few pages, this is what I was able to gather, please correct me if I misunderstood anything:
1) What the SE customer service rep told me is largely true; I will not be able to continue paying for FFXI the way that I have and must figure out a way to pay for it via Crysta.
2) What was mistaken is that I can pay for Crysta via PayPal?
I don't really hear a lot about the popularity of FFXI in Korea, despite being one of the MMO capitals of the world. Is there much of an FFXI crowd out there?
Oh also, the cs rep told me that due to similar region issues, I could not buy any further expansions in Korea and install them; I would have to have an American version shipped to me. Is that also accurate?
Really lookin forward to watching StarCraft II matches on TV hahahahaha.
No, it shouldn't. By moving yourself, you aren't magically relocating how your American credit cards interact with the American system. If your credit cards are going to be tied to an address in the United States, and your bank is fully aware of the fact that you're both relocating and maintaining an account with them nonetheless, you should not have any problems whatsoever. Set up automatic billing before departing, and nothing will change for you.
In fact, call your bank and talk to them about this in detail. They know what they're going to block far better than an SE representative does.
hmm see this is what i was thinking, with automatic payment why would it make a difference? perhaps the SE rep misunderstood me - perhaps he thought i meant i would start using a new credit card that i acquire once i'm in korea, which i wouldn't; i plan on maintaining my american accounts.
edit: no i take that back, i remember the conversation, he was talking about american accounts and using them from korea. so perhaps as long as i don't change my information and have to re-enter it from korea, it won't be a problem?
Billing won't be a problem if you keep using a US credit card, but you won't be able to log in at all unless you use a VPN. I live in Korea (US citizen with US FFXI/SE accounts) and about 2-3 years ago SE instituted an IP block on most Korean IP addresses, supposedly because of RMT. Unless this has changed since Jan. when I let my accounts lapse (lack of time to play and lack of friends still playing), you need to pay for a VPN service to mask your IP address with one from an allowed country (Japan, US, Canada, Europe, etc). I use WiTopia, even though I don't play FFXI right now I still need to VPN to play TERA on US servers. The VPN drasticly slows connection speed, making gameplay difficult.
are you friggin serious... ahh dammit. you know i remember reading about people having connection issues in korea:
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.htm...54806&h=50&p=1
was that what that was all about?
Wow, yeah, I didn't realize it was way back in 2008. I played up until this January, most of the time I needed a VPN but there was a period where my husband changed ISPs and we managed to get an IP address that was able to access FFXI without it. I don't remember which ISP now though, we have since moved away from Seoul and have a different ISP again. I don't have FFXI currently installed on my laptop to test, but I can do so now and try my work and home internet for connectivity.
FFXI was never officially released in Korea, in fact almost no SE games have made it over here. It was kinda a big deal a while back when they made a Korean language version of FFXIII (I think they subtitled rather than dubbed the cutscenes though). I've only talked to a handful of weigook (the Korean version of gaijin) who have played and/or still play FFXI from Korea.
