Eh kinda ehhhhh about the entire thing. Trailer would look cool if it didn't have any relationship to the book, but when you have read the book and then look at the trailer again you kind of go "uhhhh...ok?". I mean the book was great and creepy just because it was a single guy collecting stories from all over the world about how crazy the entire event was and how each nation had their own way of dealing with things and each survivors own tale. You take all that and just turn it into "Brad Pitt travels the world saving people in every country and we'll include some scenes from the book!" and you are better off just making a fucking zombie movie w/o any ties to Max's book and then making a miniseries about the books.

Fucking shit HBO, get the rights to the book and make another miniseries so I have shit to watch while i'm waiting on fucking Game of Thrones.

If you view it as a Left 4 Dead movie it's not as terrible as I initially thought it would be...

that's the fundamental problem, you can't turn the book into a two hour movie. too many stories to tell, too little of the narrator to turn into a cinematic Brad Pitt protagonist.

only way to do it is through a tv show or miniseries

don't know why they're even trying with this. might be good, but it's not really an adaptation of the novel it's a new story set in the same universe that lifts a few ideas here and there.

I assume at the very least they'll have the Battle of Yonkers somewhere in the movie. If not, I really see no point in getting the license to the book since it could have been a good movie with an original title.

Doing this, looking at it more like a game -> movie instead of book -> movie adaptation

All I'm going to say is that if they make them fast moving zombies when the book clearly characterizes them as the shambling zombie type I will be angry.

its hard to tell really, a lot of the scenes could be of normal civilians running, climbing, human crush, etc.

I at least found the start of Warm Bodies' trailer funny in a deadpan sort of way. Both movies are still going to fail.

I understand people wanting the movie to be true to the source material but...slow zombies are just not scary outside of very specific situations and you can't make a film depicting a zombie apocalypse as it happens using them and have it still be believable.

Virtually every zombie movie takes place after the outbreak has happened with just some flashbacks or a quick intro montage as far as how it happened. It's hard to film a credible, suspenseful zombie film with slow zombies if you're going to show how they managed to overtake fortified military positions and the like, it just doesn't work.

If your zombies can't scale a fence/wall they're not going to be scary and no one's going to buy that they took over the world.

Yeah. That must be why the walking dead is such a miserable failure

Ever read Joe McKinney's Dead City series (not the best zombie books but they're not terrible)? Slow zombies can break down anything if there are enough of them. Not all slow zombies are created equal, and not all zombies have slow shambling gaits. The thing about slow zombies are the numbers and the fact that they seemingly come out of nowhere. (In Dead City's case, they moan if they see food and that attracts more in a ripple effect.) Unless we're talking nuclear bombs, anything near a huge populace center is going to get taken down eventually.
