Greatest follow up post ever.
Matinee'd it, was OK.
I wouldn't call it a bad movie, probably wouldn't call it a great one either. It was entertaining enough though, and ultimately I'd say it was worth the watch.
Note: Coming from someone that never read the book.
I never read the book, I wouldn't spend 8-10$ on this. There are better movies in theaters right now you could be spending money on.
The "scary" parts were few and far between. PG13, no blood, everything is off camera. Wasn't terrible but I wouldn't recommend it or see it again. Should have watched superman instead.
One of the reviews I read since this is the scariest zombie movie since 28 days. For fucks sake, not even in the same sentence.
Idk I actually enjoyed this more than Man of Steel, but no this movie wasn't better than 28 days later. Better than 28 weeks, yes.
Nothing ground breaking. Typical zombie movie. I'd recommend waiting for DVD tbh.
I enjoyed the flick. Lost it every time a zombie would chatter its teeth.
last 30 mins in the lab were pretty weak, should have ended with something a bit more action packed and less sneaky sneaky. swap that scene with israel and i'm good. obvi can't do that due to plot but in terms of action and story i just didn't believe the end was actually the end when it ended.
I had one big nitpick. There's no way the infection would have spread so quickly without a lengthier incubation period. Outbreaks need a carrier host. In this movie, the incubation period was 10 seconds. Would have been unlikely to have spread from Asia across the oceans.
I was expecting them to reveal that it was a biological attack.
From what I read about the book a big element of the story has to do with governments intentionally keeping the outbreak a secret and censoring as much information about it as possible.
Ultimately it's still a zombie outbreak movie, suspension of disbelief is kind of required.
In the book if i'm not mistake it all starts in China, in a small village where someone goes into a cave and gets bitten or sticks himself with something or what not, I cant remember too much. I believe the incubation isn't 10 seconds though in the book and yeah the Chinese government tries to keep it hush hush which results in the outbreak traveling across borders and such.
Spoiler: show
I thought it was hilarious how movie studios pander to the Chinese market now. They have to remove all references to China in movies nowadays
maybe posted earlier somewhere in thread, but lol:

I fell asleep during the previews and woke up when the credits were rolling. Overall the movie was pretty bland. The Last of Us > All.
How do you know?!?!? YOU DIDN'T EVEN WATCH IT!
Spoiler: show
