Ugh. Another common misconception. The legal age for consensual sex is as low as 14 here in some states (South Carolina and Hawaii off the cuff). Hell, it's 16 here in NC.

Looking at it from the perspective of ya'll getting access earlier I can understand how that would skew the 'how young is too young' mentality.

We don't have daycares in schools here but we do have quite a bit teenage pregnancies. I imagine the US does too because you can't stop teenagers shagging each other even if the law forbids it. Our teen pregnancy issues start around 13.

I don't even want to imagine the level of fucked up our country would have if we didn't strictly punish underage boot knocking with older women/men. Seriously, you don't hear about 13 year olds getting each other pregnant nearly as much as there are stories of teacher sex.

Also, I bet that's why you didn't see a lot of diversity out at the gay bars, no one associates with the 'twink scene' unless they have to. <25 stereotype around here is usually insipid and self centered with an else for nothing other than youth and a unkind words for anyone outside of their ideal image who tries to hit on them. And if you fit the age but don't conform to the style that flourishes around the bar scene, then you -don't- hang out at the bars.
