Just a minute walk to the Palladium and 5 mins to the old clock thingy.

That's a good location. I've always wanted to try one of the hotels on Kampa, the small island under Charles Bridge, and in the Malostranská area, so that would have probably been my pick. My dad lives right behind the National Theater though, so he generally has me stay somewhere around there.

Prague is really great. I'd suggest coming in spring or early fall when it's still pretty and there aren't that many tourists.
