How would you rate SK in terms of tourism? I want to visit some other countries in the next few years.

I'd give it an A+. If you're in bigger cities (Seoul, Busan, Gyeongju, and to a lesser extent Daegu and Daejeon) then you won't have much trouble finding people that speak English except in tiny shops or hole-in-the-wall restaurants. Travel is incredibly easy with a great 3-tier bus system that covers the whole country, a bullet train that covers the biggest dozen cities or so, and very cheap cabs in abundance. Food is also delicious and super cheap. My mom and sister came to visit me for a week while I was out there. On the first night I took them to a fancy BBQ place. I explained that it would be the most expensive meal of the week. For the three of us to eat our fill of BBQ, soup+rice, and drinks we spend $27. It was, by far, the most expensive meal of that week. For over a year and a half I don't think I spend more than $4 on lunch ever.

If you are interested in historical sites and things, both Seoul and Gyoungju have them in abundance. Particularly Gyoungju, which was the old capital during the Shilla Dynasty. If you like outdoors stuff there are great beaches in the south and east, and plenty of options for hiking given that the country is 70% mountains. Seoul and/or Busan will cover you if you want to experience the nightlife or do some shopping, especially the big area covering NamDaeMoon Market and neighboring Myoung-dong. The DMZ is only about a 40 minute bus ride from Seoul, and is a really fascinating place. You can take a little tour, step a few feet into North Korea, and buy some fun things to bring back as souvenirs such as NK alcohol.
