Probably gunna cave in and get it because I'm an idiot. Was having a ton of fun as a healing esper in pvp. Definitely goin Dominion to squash exile rebels (also, the dominion main city is LOADS better than shitty ass exile place)

Really upset I missed the open beta for this and didn't get a chance to try it. For those who have been playing, is it really as cool to play as it looks (that is, super cool), and do you forsee its future being good or ending up like SWTOR or any of the other masses of recent MMOs that have been proving it's a dying genre?

Reason I ask is that I'm thinking of getting it to try, but not really interested if the community and economy aren't going to be booming. I have tons of single player games, I want to play one that actually encourages group play like FFXI did (instead of letting you get away with doing almost everything solo as in XIV).

Why are people so hyped for this?

It's not super cool. I'd say it's rather neat. The questing is typical annoying garbage. Battle system starts out kinda meh but like every other MMO once you get above lvl 10, things start to get better.

It's a pretty solo-game, so if you're looking for FF11 style play, it won't be there. Group content and pvp is pretty intense, in a good way. If you're not paying attention to stuff you'll die and it won't be anyones fault but your own. I saw a few people questing together so you can totally do that with friends. And zones have group events going on every now and then. They're not really FATES but just world events that you can partake in

It won't destroy WoW but I don't think it's gunna fail like SWTOR or ESO. I think it'll find it's niche like FF14 and sustain a decent amount of subscribers.

I'm not really hyped for it, I just like the experience of leveling in MMOs (I know it sounds weird) I like exploring all the zones etc I also love being a healer in pvp/group content and feel like I mastered that in WoW/FF14 so onto the next game to "master"
