Getting bounced between not having a valid account on NA datacenters and EU datacenters. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
Got paid yesterday and thought fuck it. Just one issues though, I know my PC is shit and I know people have been saying "it's k, it's beta" but now we're playing on the launch version. What's up with the optimization? No matter what I do I just can't seem to get rid of the FPS issues. I'm not too worried, it's still playable just a little annoying seeing as it's been an issue since closed beta.
If anyone has a spare guest pass I'll take one, feel free to PM.
Early Access getting hit with DDOS & the usual launch issues, Pre-Order discount
http://www.siliconera.com/2014/05/31...rder-discount/While Carbine’s new MMO WildStar officially releases on Tuesday, June 3rd next week – those who pre-order will be granted a 3-day “head start” which went live earlier this Saturday AM. Unfortunately beyond the usual MMO launch problems, WildStar’s head start was plagued with DDoS attacks, confirmed by its Carbine staff members which posted details of the attack both on the forum and reddit. (There’s a giant list of potential problems/issues in the linked thread).
While the early access problems are a bit reminiscence of FFXIV AAR’s relaunch last year, Carbine has implemented an inactivity timer which apparently is dealing with the long queue times fairly well and as of writing it appears most people are able to login without an issue (knock on wood?)
If all the live streams happening are enticing you, pre-ordering before June 3rd will also get you several pre-order bonuses like a an exclusive “Rocket House” player housing, the aforementioned early access, and of course a nice fat 22% off:
- WildStar Deluxe Edition for $58.50 (normally $74.99)
- WildStar Standard Edition for $46.80 (normally $59.99)
- Use coupon code: QUK706-XWFKI6-8UK3NL
Note: The coupon discount only runs through Monday, June 2nd. US prices are listed above, but the coupon will work in Europe as well.
Servers
You’ll notice two things right off the bat – servers (aka Realms) have been broken down by region, language, and play style.
- Region: WildStar is a region locked game. In order to play in Europe, you’ll need to buy a European key, and the same goes for North America. If you’re from the land down under, you’ve been put under the North American region (though there is at least a server dedicated to the Oceanic region). When buying a game key, you should be sure you’re not running a program which re-routs your IP address to the region you do not intend to play in as the gaming retailers all assume your address at the time of purchase is the one you intend to play in.
- Language: In the European region you’re divided among English, German, and French servers. In North America English is the assumed language.
- Play Style: WildStar servers give you three focuses: Player vs. Environment, Player vs. Player, and Player vs. Environment – Role Playing.
If you’re interested in the spread of the play style and the types of player online, check out this WildStar Census which was setup by the folks at Watch WildStars. Time will tell if the lower quantity of PvP server will be an issue.

Decided to pick the game up for the hell of it. Not too bad, but seems kinda quest heavy instead of explore heavy like GW2/XIV/XI felt.
They are blaming launch issues on a DDoS attack instead of sayin they just have launch issues? Rofl
ESO Fanbois yo. Loving the game so far, few nit picks though. Challenges get kinda annoying. Was talking to an NPC for a quest when something roamed over and attacked me so I killed it and got a challenge. Finished the challenge then talked to the npc to get a quest to kill the same mob... Some challenges just seem impossible to get over bronze unless you can 1 shot everything. I feel like ignoring them but I can't. Login queues are insane so I resorted to jumping every 20 minutes if I need to do something else, hope there is a better way.
These fucking wait queues to get into the servers are pissing me off. Had to wait 3.5 hours last night, was too tired to play by the time i got on. Got on this morning after a 20min wait, went to eat breakfast, got booted. have to wait another 1.5-2 hours to get back on.
Ditto on the guest pass thing. Wouldn't mind trying this out, to see if it's more than WoW in space.
It actually looks like it was an actual DDoS, oddly enough. Guild Wars 2 went down for a little bit as well, so it was just against NCSoft login servers, I guess.
Really enjoying the game, though so far it seems that making money might actually be somewhat of a challenge! Game is definitely a lot of fun while playing with someone else, too. Currently leveling a spellslinger alongside my girlfriend's stalker and we're tearing through stuff.
Nooooo accidentally took a nap, now I'm in a 16 hour queue![]()
what server are you guys on? lol I havn't had any issues logging on at all >_>;
Pergo. Every PvP server but the 2 most recently added ones are full. Sure I can ditch my level 15 with my house and start over =/ but meh.
When the initial spike does down; will be glad you're on a packed server.
Exact same thing, cept it wasnt an accident. I got on in like an hour at 9am cst. Ate breakfast, got booted. Waited 4hours to get back on. By the time I got on I was tired, took a nap. Trying to stay at char select screen, didnt work. Got booted. Prolly get back on around 10pm cst. Pretty sure I will be too tired again.
Im on Pergo Too. Exile.
Don't see the point in server swapping. New servers just getting filled up too. I dont understand how they thought 7 collective servers would be enough. MMORPGs never learn from other ones. They all fuck up launches they same way.
It's easier to make servers when it's needed instead of making a ton and then having desolate servers costing them dosh. There's a reason it occurs in every MMO launch, cause nobody has the ability to exactly guess how many people is going to buy their game.
Bullshit and Bullshit.
They know how many people have registered full paid accounts and how many people have registered passes. They also know launching with 3 pvp servers is fucking retarded. No one said make a hundred servers. Overshooting by a decent margin is all that is required.
Could have made 25ish servers to launch with. 13 normal, 7 pvp, 5 for the other random oceanic and rp. 30 would have been safer.
They havent even gotten the Regular launch day people on and the servers are packed soon after they are opened. What they need to do is double up all servers they have.
They can always combine any servers that aren't populated heavily or offer/force low populated server transfers. Can smash 3 poor pop servers into one. Plenty of options.
Not having enough space and screwing people that want to play the game is not the right answer. But its the same thing each dumbass company continues to do and fuck up every single mmo launch.
At the end of the day, they want people to play their game. Its counter-productive to not let them play. And worse to piss them off and make them not want to play at all and convince others not to play. Sure seasoned MMO players know this is to be expected. That is not an excuse for companies to continue to make the same stupid mistake. And not everyone that plays is a seasoned MMO player.
I want tons of noobs to rape on my PvP servers, not wait 6 hours to log in.
TL;DR
Proactive > Reactive
Servers cost money, unused servers are a waste. Every developer would rather have too few servers and add as needed then have excess. The player base expects issues during the launch of an MMO, which is a fact of life and something that the developers can effectively plan for.
That said, the low ratio of PVP servers at launch was a bit of a goof, but I'm not gonna get into that discussion.
I'm on Thudnerfoot. Add Cyrinth if you want. I will be on in a couple of hours once I get out of work.
