the UI is so damn awful still that I dont even want to play out of the starter zone. Its beyond atrocious. I gotta love how the noobie explorer path quest "Ascend the Asteriod and plant the surveillance drone" has no indicator on how to plant the surveillance drone. and since its a buddy pass i cant use any channel other than /say.

SOOOOOOO BAD. not to mention the map is full screen and you can't make it smaller

I tried playing this in beta and it was boring and badly optimized. I tried playing it again on a guest pass and it's still boring and terribly optimized. I literally saw no one on a full server so I don't know if anyone is actually playing.

no name plates so you never know if its a PC or a NPC! Hell, cant even see party members easily

people are probably out of the starter zones by now. I was seeing a shitton of people in the 15 lvl zone.

I'm enjoying myself now that I'm out of the starter zone. pvping like crazy and mixing in some dungeons here and there. Dungeons are absolutely insane. Wiped about 10 times but managed to beat the Kel Voreth instance. Questing is pretty boring/shitty/annoying but if you can suffer through it and do group content, I think people will enjoy themselves.

So I gave my 3 friends my passes.
One got in fine and played for a bit just now.
The other had a problem with Best Buy not returning his laptop so he can't play yet(lol)

The third friend did a clean reinstall of his OS and windows update, and Wildstar is the only game he installed. He can't get the game itself to load after the launcher. He says it'll patch, and the PLAY button while turn green. When clicked his mouse icon will do the "loading" graphic for a few seconds, the window will close and... nothing. No error notice, no crash notice, nothing.
Any ideas? He's tried the dx9 fix, and running as admin.
He's currently rolling back in history and if that doesn't work he's gonna reinstall the game itself.

for those complaining about UI, these are the addons I use to make it tolerable:

Customizable UI Frames
Nameplates that don't suck
Quest windows that don't suck
Better loot notifications
Much better inventory window
Automatic junk selling, repairs, better merchant inventory management
FoV slider

sad that you need to use so many to make it playable, but modern MMOs. also do a /reloadui every few hours, Bijiplates has a memory leak atm

Not trying to make excuses for them, but they have stated in several dev interviews that the minimalist UI design was intentional as all aspects of the UI were designed even internally as add-ons. Customization was what they were aiming for, but I do agree, the base UI should have been better.
