No.
Been too busy collecting virginity's in pvp, might check out an adventure tonight.
Unfortunately, as with every MMO I play, I'm having a severe case of class ADD. I can't decide what to play. Highest so far is a 12 SS, but been playing around way too much with everything so I haven't been progressing far.
So far my favs seem to be SS Stalker and Engi, but I'm giving Medic a try now and eventually will pick up warrior. Also, anyone notice whats the "trendy" pick so far in the game? Seems to be a real balance of people selecting classes, doesn't seem to be any favorites among people. Anyone else have different experiences?
I see medics everywhere, all the time.
ive seen a ton of engineers
First game I've seen where there isn't a god awful shortage of healers.
I've seen every class in pretty high supply aside from SS, which in general seems a little less popular then the others. My friend has told me that the skill requirement for it is quite a bit higher then the other classes, so that might be discouraging people some.
Can't even log in right now...cannot accept the second Terms & Service agreement at the log in screen. I can scroll all the way down, and see the 'Agree" button, but when I click, nothing happens. Submitted a ticket... hopefully hear something soon.
Looking for some input on healing, preferably from another Esper. So just did Skullcano and man that had to be the most stressful thing ever.
1) I feel like my heals don't do enough, while I'm not rockin the super best gear it's pretty good (first boss even dropped a healing blade for me). Mind over Body hits for 2600 (+1200 when 65%+) and mending banner hits for 4k. Now the tank has 20k HP and gets hit very hard it's almost impossible to keep them topped off.
2) DPS keep getting hit by stuff. I don't know how much of this is avoidable, due to looking at health bars, but if I take my eyes off the tank for a second or 2 they can drop pretty fast.
3) I feel it's harder to dodge stuff than it should be. On the last boss I could never tell when I was going to get blinded by overload due to watching bars/shit on the ground.
4) I heard that you should use soothe over MoB... but it literally heals for half the amount. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or what, but if I lose focus for a tiny bit shit can hit the fan hard.
I don't think it might be your fault, completely. The game is extremely unforgiving. If the dps/tank isn't geared properly or they're morons, it can make healing a horrible experience.
I havn't healed Skullcano but do you use the AoE healing spell that takes psi points? Whenever I did the lvl 20 instances, I mostly used that one and MoB. What does your loadout look like?
If party members can stay together, soothe might be better since it's mobile and a group heal but if you're only nabbing one or two people with it, it might be bad.
My loadout would probably look like this: (only lvl 29)
MoB, Bolster, Reverie, Phantasm Armor, Soothe, Projected Spirit, Concentrated Blade and Meditate.
Concentrated Blade is nice because it's 2 free Psi points. If you don't really have focus issues too much, you can replace Meditate with Mending Banner or something. You can also try using Warden with the tier 4 bonus to beef up the tank and help heal closer range people.
Well, going to wait a month to see if them and AMD can get some more optimization done. Plays beautifully when I am outside the city... but once I go back, or to my house... lag hella bad, and under 10FPS when I am there. Hell, even on WoW Ultra settings I get about 55-60 FPS. At least they know of it, and trying to fix it.
I run with Mending banner, MoB, Bolster (same 2 free points but is a HoT), soothe, reverie, phantasm armor, pyro flame and the cleanse spell. I want to use Warden but I find the tree will never go on the tank, elevation issues I guess. Maybe I should forget about dps (reverie if people get low) but if I try to single target heal them it can cause problems. Soothe just doesn't heal enough, at least for Skullcano, to keep the tank up.
I'd probably drop pyro flame and the cleanse spell tbh
I would agree dps should be the least focused. their job is to avoid stuff. I was really only healing them with Reverie, Bolster and then using Phantom armor on whoever at every cooldown.
From what I can tell, and granted I haven't leveled high enough to do any instances yet, but it seems to me the whole concept from a dps standpoint is to avoid taking damage, you know, what with the giant AoE cones and circles that appear when the big baddie is about to do something that will completely wreck all your shit.
I'm kinda looking at this game like GW2, where there should be a bigger priority on rolling and avoiding damage rather than blocking a punch with your face. Granted, the tank is supposed to do this (occupational hazard) but I'd imagine there must be some things that aren't meant to be taken head on. Also, melees at least should consider carrying around a few meds just to make a healers life a little easier.
Anyway, that's my 2 cents, but hey, what do I know, I haven't even done anything group related beyond 5+ man missions.
DPS should be together most of the time, running in for cures with the tank and not waiting until they are near death. At very few points in this game should you have to ever hunt dps down to heal them. You will blow through your focus causing the tank to die and you guys to wipe. Sometimes it's best to let people die. They'll never learn to stay in line otherwise. Most heals are aoe for a reason, so there is zero excuse for this.
In this game cc is everyone's burden. Especially true for the DPS role. They should be interrupting during the fight to open up key moments of opportunity. It increases damage output and relieves the need for heals. This is certainly not the game where you can casually blame the tank or the healer for deaths.
You said your gear was in good shape, so the issues sound like a cc problem or possibly a tanking skill/gearing problem. My guess is on the cc. It's almost always the problem.
The first couple dungeons are filled with players getting their reality checks in. This game is super-unforgiving, and most pugs just aren't prepared, especially considering the questing is your average, run-of-the-mill in terms of difficulty. Having read nothing about the game prior to playing, I was honesty taken aback at the spike in difficulty, moving from questing/adventures to dungeons.
Nobody should ideally ever take a red zone, including the tank. Coming from WoW or other games like XIV where tanks can eat a telegraph and be okay depending on the fight, telegraphed moves here will drop a tank by over half, and often lead to an unrecoverable situation. Also, in games like XIV where you can carry bad DPS through any encounter without a hard dps check, in Wildstar DPS have to interrupt key moves, otherwise the fights become far too difficult, if not impossible. No free carries here. The difference between a dungeon where dps just faceroll the keyboard, and one where dps understand Moments of Opportunity is night and day.
In other words, pugging in Wildstar blows yards of goat cock.
I like the difficulty of the dungeons but the questing/leveling turned me off completely. Made it to lvl 29 and I just couldn't suffer through another giant zone of shit I didn't care about. Mix in me knowing that I won't raid and it killed off my desire. Oh well. Spent 2 solid weeks on it. Got my moneys worth, I suppose.
i fucking LOVE how hard the dungeons are. the lvl 20 ones are just... rofl, amazing
Yeah, it's fuckin fantastic. I ran Stormtalon with a XIV friend I brought over. After the one mob that locks you down and fires lightning up your ass, he was like "Was that a boss, or..." Nope son, that was trash.
Does anyone have anymore guest passes? I like what I'm reading about the game difficulty wise.
Maybe I should change my mindset then. I try to be a great healer by keeping everyone up, but I guess a great healer can't keep dumb dps alive. Also I don't know if it's just my connection or the servers themselves, but I've ran into some lag problems. In Skullcano during the second boss I think, the one that has the ink phase. During the targeted phase sometimes I can outrun it without sprint, sometimes I need sprint, sometimes it doesn't matter and I get damaged regardless.
