My uncle is a bit on the eccentric side. He never did anything with his brains outside of becoming fluent in 7 languages and is insanely artsy both with carvings and with music. He doesn't like a lot of modern technology, but then most people over the age of 60 don't either. I think a better study would be that old people tend to us IE because they don't care and grew up with computers like our generation.


My mom's side of the family has a history of the eccentric high IQ people (no, I'm not claiming I am one, because I'm not), but they have always been on the artsy side vs. scientists/technologists. That side of my family is full of vaudeville players n' Broadway stuff.

Claiming a person could only be a genius if they know not to use IE means you don't know anything about what the IQ means. They have the capacity to do what you said, but they may not have the desire or the want to give a shit about it. high IQ =/= technology lovers.

I don't really find the study relevant in any way. High IQ shows your ability to store and process information, not how capable you are to apply the information to your everyday life.

yayaya, point still stands though. a lot of geniuses are eccentric and I guess you could say on the autism spectrum a little. If they have no interest in it, then they won't bother with it. Luci has it right IQ is about your ability. It doesn't mean you love and want to learn everything about computers.

IQ is more about your ability to problem solve. There is a difference between IQ and achievement which is more the storing information side of things. My wife is a school psychologist, testing is what she does for her career and I was her guinnea pig while she was in graduate school. my average IQ is 138 which does not make me a genius (I was joking last page in case anyone didn't pick up on that) but this whole idea about browser is stupid. I don't switch off IE because i'm not an idiot and don't click on shit that will breach my security and I know enough about computers to keep my system clean. There is no need for me to change my browser which trumps any desire I don't have to see what others look like.

1) You don't have to click something to get a virus. Nor do you need to go to any shady sites.
2) IE is slower than a snail.
3) IE has fewer features.
4) until just recently, microsoft refused to follow web standards.

An internet browser is typically the most used program for most people, so the speed alone makes using IE incredibly stupid. And if that's not enough, it also is a shitty browser in regards to features, conforming to standards (before v9), etc. Not to mention its shit security.

Chrome is literally the best and fastest, not a fad. Usage is rising rapidly too. Just wait until Google OS for PC comes out.

Also, IE (was) a part of the Operating System (the file explorer is the same program), which is why it was insecure. Has nothing to do with clicking the wrong things - you could literally take over someones computer if they were using IE/ActiveX.

I'm a web designer so people using IE just makes my job harder, Microsoft refused to use web standards for over a decade.

my hubby is a chrome fan (a google fan in general actually, we have like everything google). But I don't like it. It always seems unable to load certain things on webpages. especially blackboard for school. So I stopped using it.
