I never understood why he never received equal respect. Didn't he kill someone in the arena before getting his "fake" mark? I know they kept saying he would have been sent to the mines if not for the other Syrian, but why didn't that change anything?

He was about to get killed in the arena but the other Syrian (the one who only spoke Arabic) saved his ass. I can't remember why Batiatus kept Asher after he got crippled - did he help out kidnapping & killing the rival lanista at the end of Gods of the Arena?

Nope. I thought he just kept him b/c he was in charge of getting things for the other gladiators. Oh but he did help out with the young lanista beatdown which got him the brand.

Episode 4 was pretty exciting and finally they getting into some serious intrigue. New spartacus still bothers me and so far weakest season

They would have been fine if the entire army stayed together, and Spartacus can't lose his leadership role from pressure.

I still miss Andy. I think this guy is too young or something to be a replacement. Just doesn't have the presence.

I think it's mostly a replacement issue. He likely would've been fine if he had been Spartacus the whole time. Would he have been as good as Andy? Not sure. Would he be considered better than he is now? Yes.
