Having a hard time remembering appointments and such. Is there a way where I can get a calendar overlay for my desktop. And then have the ability to mark notes for those days?

Rainlendar maybe. Pro version at least can sync with Google or whatnot, if you're using that to put alerts on a phone or something.
Might be a plugin for Rainmeter that does it too, I dunno, most I've seen don't do appointments/etc.
I dunno. I have an Exchange account through work, so I just use Outlook >_>;
