Can't get windower to work

If I open normal windower.exe it opens FFXI and loads etc as if I have just clicked on normal FFXI. If I open windower GUI I get this:

Any suggestions to make it work?

Did you click the x64 checkbox?

edit: Oh, are you getting this error when you first open the GUI launcher? Is this a new PC or anything? Is your .NET framework up to date and such if so? Is there anything interesting when you click on details?

PC isn't new but I formatted recently, not sure if I updated .NET framework so I'll do that and see. It comes up as soon as I open the Windower GUI and I have tried both x64 on and off but neither will load FFXI. The weirdest thing is the windower.exe opening FFXI as if I've just opened FFXI normally without windower, have tried this with official windowed mode on and off.

first off, official windowed mode has to be off so ya keep it that way. Secondly, are you trying a shortcut instead of the actual program? I had a similar problem before where for some reason the shortcut link was doing what you see above. When I clicked the actually program though it worked and I just redid the shortcut.

I'm computer illiterate so I have no idea why the shortcut was giving issues. But it's worth a shot since it did seem to fix it for me.

I think you need to make sure to "run the program as adminstrator." You can either right click -> run as administrator or you can right click -> properties -> compatibility tab -> check "run as administrator"

Actually now that you mention it I used to have to do that myself (haven't played in a while) and it works now that I've done that (also computer illiterate, no idea why it does this).
Repaired .NET framework and GUI opens now.

Funny how I am playing FFXI through NA Playonline though, not sure how this is working.
