iPhone dropped in the toilet...yeah one of those threads

So I dropped my iPhone in my toilet this morning (luckily no poop involved). I immediately fished it out, turned it off, took off the outer case, dried it off, and took a hair-dyer to it for a few minutes to dry it off as best I could. Currently I am trying the "keep it in a ziploc bag with white rice" trick for 2 days, but are there any other things I can try to salvage this? I really don't have the cash to be dropping on a new phone right now. One of the things that worried me initially was that even after I turned it off, the phone kept powering itself back on automatically (did this 3 or 4 times) before it finally stopped. Any help would be appreciated.

What exactly is going on with it? I dropped mine in the toilet ironically enough this week, and the only issue I had was that it got stuck in headphone mode, but an air compressor into the headphone jack resolved that.

Can you remove the battery in iphones? That's the only other thing I thought to mention besides the rice

I'm not sure if it has any long term damage yet, I immediately turned it off to try to prevent it from frying. During the few times it kept rebooting itself, it did pop up with a message saying "this accessory is not supported by your iPhone", but that only appeared once and then went away. I am too paranoid to try turning it back on until after enough time has passed with the rice in the bag.

EDIT: And no you can't remove an iPhone battery. Well you could, but it voids the warranty as I am told.

Yeah you can remove the batteries of iphones, but it's not super simple (not super hard either).

$199 gets you a new iphone at al Apple store! Or go in anyways and they might be nice to you......

Depending on your morals, you can go punch out a small piece of white paper, stick just a drop of adhesive to the bottom of it and cover up the red liquid indicator sticker in the headphone jack. See if you cant remove the ones in charging port, they usually dont question it. Heard of this working quite a few times.

As for my personal experience, I dropped a glass of hypnotic onto my phone and turned the headphone indicator blue and I flat out told him what happened and he didnt give a rats ass and gave me a new one anyhow. If you dont manage to get a nice person on the first go around, they will usually mark the phone as DBR (Damaged Beyond Repair) and then the other trick wouldnt work either.

    Best of luck!

4 liquid damage indicators in the phone! If they see you covered up one I doubt they'd have warm feelings towards you at that point.

Well the closest Apple store to me is about 200 miles away, so if its still broken after a rice bath for a couple of days then I am just gonna mail it off to Apple for repairs and pay $200, not gonna spend the money on gas to make a 400 mile roundtrip on "maybe", then still have to pay for repairs.

After 2 days of a rice bath, I attempted to power it back on, it came back on and needed to resync to iTunes. After a resync and restore my phone is back in action! Hooray science. Thanks for helpful tips all.

A few hours at ~120 degrees F in the oven also works well.
