Yep. La Theine worm party is serious business, apparently. Just to follow up, the Babyabu guy started offering a bounty of 500k to someone who would d2 Phantomkitty. He was ignored and eventually raised the ante to 1m. So some BLM who I think was friends with Phantomkitty warps him/her/it. I'm not really sure if he paid out, but if he did he probably split the gil. This finally shut Babyabu up, or so we thought, until he tracked down Phantomkitty in Jueno and started shouting there too. Fucking psychos that play this game.
More like crybaby bullshiters who play this game.
Garudites are selling for 100k a pop on Bahamut. Well, they were yesterday; I resolved to not check them again for a few weeks (months).
EDIT: by the census, THF and DNC are two of the most popular jobs in the game, and they're both evasion-centric jobs that just got a new WS that is both really good and carrying an AGI mod. Whether geodes/garudites are "worth" the current prices is up to the individual but the wind ones are for sure way, way more valuable than any of them except the earth and maaaaybe light.
I've never understood the concept of "well I have a use for it, so I should lot it over you". Everyone has a use for a 100k item...some people use it for the magian trial, and some people use it to put on AH for 100k.
having said that: the mobs that drop avatarites have to be lv90+ right, as well as the whole weather/day thing.
I got a Garudite off a seaboard vulture, so no. Maybe 80+?
Barely matters; droprate's not high enough to really call "farmable".
If it is indeed 80+, then Greater Colibri are almost relevant again, but again, the drop rate's way too low to say "oh, Bhaflau's got wind the next two days! Time to drop everything and farm bullshit!"
Anything that gets more of these into circulation and causes price drops, though![]()

but

seems the cutoff point is lv84, since seaboards are just 83-84.
and now I'm confused

maybe theres no cap on lvl for geodes to drop?
I'm not totally sure there's a cutoff per se; I wasn't paying attention but I could swear I've seen some geodes in Heroes Abyssea zones these past few days.
Over the level line, a mob probably has a chance to drop either. That would make the most sense, I think; keeping avatarites relatively rare without making the much-more-in-demand geodes completely disappear.
I'll kill these for a bit and see what I get
This would be a Totally Righteous thing to test. Getting clearer ideas about the drop patterns of geodes/avatarites (affected by TH? droprates scaling by level?) would benefit everyone in the game now that bread-and-butter elemental magian weapons require so goddamn many.
Way too big a thing for one dude to test though, I'd think.
I have been curious about the Avatarites as well, I didn't want to do much with them on the wiki until we got a clearer picture of how they drop.
All I know about geodes is they're pretty decent with weather...if you happen to not believe me, Breeze Geode stacks:
Dec. 19, 2011 Vermy Ayca 2,018,262
Dec. 15, 2011 Vermy Goodluck 2,200,000
Oct. 22, 2011 Vermy Ladon 2,000,000
In roughly 3 hours, I've gotten:
3 garudite, 2 titanite, 3 ramuite, 2 ifritite
1 flame, 6 thunder, 1 shadow, 1 soil geodes
not really sure how the weathers been cuz I wasnt paying attention to that >.> But I can tell you I did get -ite's from 83 vultures too.
I can also tell you theres no 5 minute lockout timer:
[18:04:41]▼yYou find a ▲☻thunder geode▲☺ on the Seaboard Vulture.

Hmmm... Perhaps Geodes and Avatarites behave like Beastmen's Seals and Kindred's Seals- You can get mobs that drop Kindred's Seals can also drop Beastmen's seals, but the opposite is not always the case. (Level 50 - 70 mobs that are EP or higher can drop Kindred's Seals, level 1 - 70 mobs that are EP or higher can drop Beastmen's Seals.) Geodes dropped from EP mobs, not sure if they drop from level 50 mobs that are EP or higher or from 56+ mobs (the lowest level that you can get XP at level 75.) Avatarites may start dropping from mobs that are level 80, perhaps as low as level 75 or 70. (When mobs start dropping Kindred's Crests.) Need more testing.
