Not a huge sample size, but still lending credence towards the 80+ hypothesis. It would be stronger if we knew the monster distribution, and if any of those Avatarites came from a level 80 mobs. If we knew that 400 of those kills were under level 80 and some of the Avatarites came from 80s, it would be a fairly strong argument for 80 and over. Honestly, with a sample size of 550 and none of them came from level 80 mobs, it is a very strong argument that they only drop from mobs over 80.

No, some did drop from 80 and some from 81, but none have dropped from 79

Either points to an incredibly low drop rate, or a disproportionate number of the mobs were under 80. (Unless you aren't talking about Decorative Weapons, but something else with more of a range in the 70s.)

No, just deco weaps...I dont really know the level distribution, since I cant really do a ctrl+f and count the # of times I got X xp, since it changes when I lvl.

But you are 100% positive that the Avatarites didn't come for 79s. Because I am about ready to put level 80 (with a {{Verification}} tag) on the Avatarite pages.

I just remembered something else:
I was on thief when I did seaboard vultures, I had no TH when I did Deco Weaps. However I should have had near maxed TH effect after a certain point, and it didnt seem to help.

deco weaps, I started at 12:30, warped out around 3:30:

I think I read a while ago geodes arent affected by TH (I may have supported that theory as well), and these basically act like geodes. We know TH3 seems to be a magical number where drop rates take a significant jump. Almost 9 hours of TH not-3, I get 4 avatarites. Yet with TH3 I get 6 in about 6 hours. I went from 1 avatarite/2.25 hrs to 1 avatarite/hr. Coupled with the drop rates I had at seaboard vultures...I'd say that they are affected by TH. Someone can feel free to disprove it.

So now that the LS bank thief has shut up...

Entered Shrine at ~5pm est, its 3:30 am est...got 17 avatarites all kills with TH4+ (not sure how my mules TH prowess went cuz I dont use logger on laptop)...but drop counts per 2 hours goes as follows
5-7pm: 1
7-9pm: 2
9-11pm: 1 (next one dropped at 11:02...just making note of it)
11-1am: 4
1-3am: 6
3-330am: 3
330-5am: 1
5-7am: 1
7-9am: 0
9-11am: 2
11am-noon: 1
and of those 17, 15 were garudites...other 2 were 1 ramuite and 1 titanite. Weather plays a pretty big role.
