I'm exactly the same. I'd collect shit for jobs that I plan on leveling in a year, and with 11 jobs fully geared I only just started storing all of my gear with the porter moogle. Heck, I used to carry flagellant's rope for the times I got paralysed, and I still carry opo-opo necklace for those times I get slept. We managed to survive with RNG before the stack update, I don't see how people moan so much about space.

Tamas has always baffled me, it's like an economy piece for mages (though I do suppose gil was a bit harder to come by at the time, and stat+5 rings werent nearly as cheap.)

My second character has a Tamas Ring still, his only "melee" job is BLU that gets used once every other blue moon. On the other hand, he has WHM, SCH, BRD, and BLM that actually benefit from a ring that has - enmity, MP, and either MND or INT. And don't try that "MP is useless after it is used" nonsense, he has 761 MP naked (after 12 MP merits) on WHM, every scrap of MP counts.

I don't think I've ever made that argument myself, but I'm a taru, I'm rolling in MP whether I like to or not.

so you made a second character with only mages in mind and picked tamas... etcetc, this argument only applies to people with two characters. or people who only ever intend to level mage jobs, which in the past as it has been said, could be a possibility. but not so likely anymore.

I've heard that argument countless times and was heading someone off at the pass because I knew it was coming.

Anyway, when I got the Tamas Ring on my main character, I only had RDM leveled. Mind you, I got it a few days after the update that put it in the game when few people had multiple jobs leveled to 75. I eventually traded it for a Rajas Ring, but I really enjoyed my Tamas Ring for many years when RDM was my main and WAR was my hobby. Back in the day (and even still) Tamas Ring was the shizzle for career mages.

The difference is that Antares was never a very good item, whereas the Alkalurops is still the best hybrid potency/accuracy weapon for debuffs. Not that debuffs matter anymore. >_>

But if I ever got a second one, I would give it to Atum for his debuffs in a heartbeat.

I just wanted to chime in on here. Tamas was amazing at 75 for mage jobs. It had max INT for a ring at the time, plus enmity, plus a little MP, plus max MND. Now it's been completely replaced by higher tiered rings. No reason a BLM shouldn't aim for Icesoul Rings, which have INT+7. On my first character I picked Tamas because I had mostly mages with just a couple of DD jobs. Now, for my taru (who has BLM and SMN main) I picked Rajas this time.

I'm more or less talking about 'way back when', or at least before level cap and such.

Also I wouldn't have called it an "amazing" mage piece, though it was certainly the best ring a mage could have, as it saved on inventory space while giving max int and maxmnd with a few other goodies. this has already been pointed out though.

on the other hand, STR and DEX were often modifiers of WS's (in the case of STR, always, double up on blade: jin and other crit based Weapon skills), give a small boost to melee. and 5 stp was (and if i recall, still is) the highest STP you can get on a ring.

not to mention other cases like subtle blow, which didnt matter quite so much back then - and still does not - except for solo. not angering the mob nearly so much definitely has its advantages - or disadvantages if you have a mob that switches between magic and physical modes via tp moves. as i found out on Amphitrite, making it a rather difficult 2box. but im getting off topic again.

edit: so in that light, CoP rings are that much better and an almost irreplacable ring for melees, while mages can get almost as good with AH rings.
I suppose that was more or less why I was always iffy about Tamas rings.

The STP on Rajas making X-hit builds possible was always what made it the "better" ring.

A few more points of HP/MP or +/- enmity doesn't make nearly the difference going from a 6 hit to a 5 hit does. The STR/DEX/SB were icing.

Also it stands true that you never need INT and MND at the same time, but as far as STR and DEX go; when you're getting some use out of one you'll be getting use out of the other in nearly all situations.

And no, you don't use INT and MND at the same time, but you do use MP and -enmity at the same time as you use INT or MND. Let me state this clearly, no one is asserting that Tamas Ring does as much for mages as a Rajas Ring does for melee or that Rajas Ring is not the most powerful of the three. But if you don't have a melee job or you primarily have mage jobs, Tamas Ring is pretty damn sweet. A Rajas Ring does absolutely nothing for WHM, BLM, RDM, BRD, SMN, or SCH when they are doing what they are supposed to be doing in a group.

Argue with that and the melee RDMs win.

So this guy joins my Voidwatch Alliance for Uptala. Everyone heads up to sky, and we're waiting 30 minutes for this asshole to grace us with his presence. He gets there, we pop, turns out he doesn't have all of his proc spells and he's there half naked. So we're like wtf. Apparently he was offended by this, so I educated him on the shape of Italy and gave him the /boot.

3 Uptalas later, we're warping out. He'd already left and went to Jeuno, when suddenly he rounds the corner and starts /shouting shit about how making fun of people is wrong and not standing up for people is wrong. We're like, LOL.
