Four deaths have a way of swinging public opinion on what cops should do to protect life and property. Before it was just property.

The riots have plenty of flare, what you're looking for is flair.

A hacker group has attacked Blackberry's website after the company said it would assist police investigating riots in the UK.

Team Poison defaced the official Blackberry blog, posting a message that threatened the firm with retaliation if it handed user data to authorities.

Blackberry's instant messaging service is believed to have been used by some looters to plan their movements.

The firm has promised to co-operate with police and the Home Office.

In its statement, Team Poison said that it did not condone innocent people or small businesses being attacked in the riots.

However, it added: "We are all for the rioters that are engaging in attacks on the police and government."

The group argued that if Blackberry gave subscriber information to police, it could lead to the wrong people being targeted.

"Innocent members of the public who were at the wrong place at the wrong time and owned a Blackberry will get charged for no reason at all," said Team Poison's statement.

It threatened to release employee information, including names, addresses and phone numbers of Blackberry staff.

UK laws mean police can request data from individuals' mobile phones when that information relates to criminal activity.

The procedure is governed by the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act.

Quiet night here - the soft bastards won't come out to riot when it's raining apparently.

So some idiot starts a facebook event up trying to start a riot in his town... local police force log on on their official account and click the "I'm attending" button.

    Made me laugh.

Wonder if the laws against Niqabs will be revised. Hoodies also obscure the faces and makes identification difficult.

Force is now being used, yes, plenty of clips of police engaging rioters.

People now have been moaning (usually the ones who thinks looting is OK, etc) that the force is too excessive if ANY injury is suffered, blah.

Wished they used more blunt force, i.e. a woman in her 20s maybe got stopped and cuffed by the police. She began lashing out at the female police officer in front of her. A well delivered swift bitch slap here should make the woman look silly...

    Oh, check this out:

Someone caught the rioters firebombing the police station where Cesaria lives.

Looks exactly like a plastic sandwich box with the clip-shut sides on the lid to me. The kid might have had his PSP in it to keep it safe in his packbag.

Anyway, BBC's story on the mugged guy, they took more than just his PSP- apparently the reason he was sat on the ground bleeding was that they had just knocked him off his bike and stolen it:

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

Serious note: Have they mentioned what they plan on doing to all the people rioting once this thing is over? ARe they going to be imprisoned for a good length of time or anything? Maybe get fined tons of money for destruction to help pay for repairs?

They started appearing in courts last night and today (a few courts worked overnight). So far we've had everything from a day in jail but you've already served that so off you go you naughty boy up to other meaningless levels of ludicricy.

Not that any of us were really anticipating great justice.

The most popular e-petition on the No 10 website is one calling for convicted rioters to lose benefit payments.

The petition arguing that those who have committed crimes should not be supported by the taxpayer had more than 90,000 signatures by 6am.

It has been so popular the website has frozen due to "a much higher level of demand than we expected".

David Cameron was asked how he planned to respond to "raised expectations" that something would be done.

The e-petition, submitted by Stephen Mains, is dwarfing its closest competitors on the e-petitions website.
This is the way to go.

Evict them from the council houses we taxpayers have given them. No more claiming for benefits, scums.
