Did you try to call the lender and see if you can squeeze any information from them? It's likely on the foreclosure notice. I don't know if you'd have any luck, but it wouldn't really hurt to just call them up and make sure they cancelled the foreclosure process.

how did you cram four bedrooms and 2.5 baths into 1750 ft^3? it can't be a terribly comfortable arrangement...

3 bed, 2 bath, and 1538 and all of our rooms are incredibly large. All 3 bedrooms could be cut in half and still be larger than most apartment bedrooms.

Another example of Solanis not getting the middle class.

Side note, because I listen to boring radio. If it is a lease with a set ending date, you are protected and can stay there til the end of the lease. If it is a month to month rental... then who knows, but if you have the paperwork stating an end date, you are protected under some law passed in 2009...heard it on Clark Howard today. Hope it helps.

Think this is the wording, too lazy to read it all though.

Whatever you do, get it on paper. Contact the original landlord and make sure they still own it and get it in writing, and pay them, keep receipts. Worst case from the crap I have see, you'll have a 90 day notice for having to move, best case i think they have to legally honor the original lease. If you can't get paperwork from the original owner or lawyer, see if you can find what bank is 'foreclosing' and contact them.

Yar, on the low class, I'm in a 2 bedroom that's ~700 sq. ft. and it's not bad. The bathtub and the kitchen are =\ small, but aside from the price, that's the only complaint.
4/2.5 in nearly 1,800 is entirely workable.

Really solanis, if I thought you'd do it, I'd challenge you to live a year now at 20k. You obviously have no idea what it's like, and if you ever did it's faded hard.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

As others said I'd suggest talking to the lender first and seeing if they have anything to say. You said you already talked to a lawyer once, did you talk to them again after finding out the realtor won't give you a written document? I'd say that's the next step in finding out where you should go. It may cost money, but you can probably have the lawyer talk to the realtor which may get the realtor to actually listen.

If the attorney from the bank said the foreclosure is cancelled it probably is. They wouldn't want to scare away potential bidders from an auction. Keep googling your address and "foreclosure auction" to see if you get hits, it'll get listed if it's going up, but otherwise just keep paying rent until you find out otherwise. Hopefully it will get foreclosed at some point, getting paid to move like that (and not paying rent in the interim) is sweet.

That's plenty of room for a well-laid out house for that number of beds/baths.

guilty as charged, it's been a few years... aside from rent, I live really cheaply though. on the real, I don't think you can live on 20k a year in NYC outside of destitution or coming close to it.

sorry pirian, I didn't think saying that would derail as bad as it did.
