More more sensable to cut in militarism then raising taxes don't you think?

With Ron Paul atleast you have a guy who will cut militarism. With the other candidates refusing to raise taxes; the only thing they will cut are your benefits. Ron Paul wanna cut militarism before touching benefits.
Got it. Second American Revolution is the only way to change how the country is going.Zealot's Speech

Yea, and if some Iranian crossed the boarder between Mexico and the US they would be executed for terrorism.
Well, yea. I know that's not what he meant but at the same time it's a seemingly impossible list to accomplish if any of the given candidates get elected. It's like Michael Steel said on TDS the other night. As much as some people don't like it, these candidates are the front runners for the Republicans and I'm worried that they might just have a chance to win next year. If that happens then you can kiss half that list goodbye and also count on most of the things he wants to get rid of getting reinforced.
Right now Perry and Bachmann seem to be the golden children of the race and both of their platforms are scary as hell. In my opinion if either get elected they're gonna try and turn this country into just as large of a theocratic hellhole as the whole middle east. Hell, you even have Perry not losing any steam after calling Ben Bernanke a possible traitor to the US.
I think this cartoon sums up how I feel about Perry and most of the other candidates when it comes to their policies on "how to get Americuh back on track"

And right now the Dems don't have the backbone to stand up to anyone. I know I'm not voting for Obama because the guy is a giant doormat when it comes to every issue he's supposed to fight back on. Unfortunately unless Americans Elect comes through with a good ticket then this means leaving the presidential vote blank or voting for someone that I do believe in for the pure catharsis of it.
Perhaps.
But one of the core principles of Reaganomics is that you lower the tax rate so low, that you actually increase the tax base because more people can pay them now, and thus get more money. The republicans are arguing that the number hasn't hit that low yet.
Or, in Daily Show terms, "tax the fuck out of the poor".
Maybe it's just me, but I think giving Perry the nomination is the absolute dumbest thing republicans can do, and their strategists know it.
Like, really? You want to put up front the governor of Texas, who is wholly unsuited and over his head to be president of the united states? Man, where have I heard that one before?
For a party that hates it when the people blame things on W., it's like they'd reopen every old wound by doing that.
We were talking about unemployment at work yesterday, because 3 people I work with are getting laid off(including my boss). Turns out they have been able to find jobs pretty easily, so I started looking, and also found a ton of really decent/good jobs out there. So "unemployment" is people that got laid off, and are collecting unemployment, and not really looking for jobs? Seems like if they really were looking for jobs, they could find one pretty easily. I was kinda shocked cause all you hear about is how there are no jobs at all.
It depends on the field and your credentials.
A lot of the unemployed aren't educated enough, or were working in a sector that is crippled and not looking for new employees.
I work in retail (for the time being) and there's no jobs there. The company I work for reported profits last year and is cutting employees and their benefits this week.
Shit's situational.

I'm gonna be really fucking pissed if Sanders doesn't get re-elected in 2012![]()
It really is situational. Theres a difference between "getting laid off" and "laid off" I was on unemployment for 8 months after my last contract ended and nobody would even respond to my resume. I was even applying for jobs I was a bit overqualified for and didn't even get an email back saying they weren't interested. Theres been a few examples thrown out over the past few years that people who are unemployed are often ignored in favor of those who have jobs and are still working.Dimm's stuff on Unemployment
Is he at a fat camp or something? I mean damn.
