What, a new firefox build already?!

Firefox Night (23.01 64bit) can run for days without becoming sluggish (longest I ran it is for about 2 weeks).
Most recent build however tends to crash on something (still trying to figure what it is, but it seems rare and they are patching ... nightly reducing it more).


Do love the noscript!
I tried chromes noscripts but that... doesn't work as well ;/

P.S. averaging 5 windows and 80+ tabs during usage (left open that entire time) browsing several hundred megs/several gigs per day used about 2GB ram before I restarted it (last stable nightly I used anyway)

My UI seems pretty customizable... and I use a download addon for my downloads, not firefox's default download thing so no idea...!

Using 23.01 atm, it does look a little different from "default" firefox 20.0 but not by much if I recall, if its all left at default layout.

Tools -> Downloads (CMD+J on OSX) brings up the download list.

View-Toolbars->customize. Move it over.

That doesn't do it. Putting it to the right of a tab doesn't work. It'll only lock to the far left (before the tabs) or far right of the bar.
My bar is generally not filled with tabs, so before they changed it, it would be in about the middle of the bar, after my second or third tab.

There's probably a spacer somewhere pushing it over. You definitely don't need to do anything special to get it right next to your tabs.

Apparently you need to do the same damn thing fifty fucking times for it to actually work.

I have been having this issue with Firefox since 20 (maybe before), now running 21. My memory usage does not typically spike (can be as low as 200-300mb), but the problem is it is usually stuck around 50% CPU usage. I'm not visiting anything special, youtube, facebook, etc. I have LavaFox theme installed, and the only addon I use is Simple Adblock. Plugins include Quicktime, VLC, Java, Acrobat, Flash 11.7 r700, and a couple windows plugins. OS is Windows 7 SP1, 3gb RAM, Intel P6100 2ghz CPU (on a laptop).

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure if it's possible to get a 64bit Firefox for Windows 7 (if that would help at all).

tl;dr: 50% CPU usage on Firefox 21, please help.

Do you have a plugincontainer type thing running? It runs separately from firefox but it can up its processing usage (it loads every time you load flash etc). You can force close it (it will crash every flash based thing in firefox though and require reloading a page)

I have a separate process with plugin-container.exe and FlashPlayerPlugin_11_7_700_169.exe which both seem to control Flash. Killing one kills both, and does not drop the CPU usage.

Not really sure then, try upgrading the version you have.
If its still an issue try using hijackthis and posting a log of what all is running

(oh and while at it, list all plugins your using, and any antivirus programs you may have running, spyware scanners etc)

FireFox seems to get worse with every version, probably due to the rushed release schedule.
I've lost count how many times I go to work, come back and find my FireFox has crashed. How can it crash when I'm not even browsing?

Had a nice new problem this week too. Half my right button menu had disappeared, so I couldn't click view source etc.

I've been running Firefox 23.0a1 64bit edition since 2013-05-02 and, it hasn't crashed (or been restarted) in that 16 day time frame actually...

Where can you get that for Windows 7, if possible?

I ran Firefox for a while with no plugins enabled with no issues. It wasn't until I enabled Flash again that the CPU usage for firefox.exe began to take up ~50% after watching a few videos on YouTube. It seems to be linked to Flash, but the separate flash and plugin-container processes are not the actual problem as it is firefox.exe that is eating up the CPU. I uninstalled and reinstalled Flash, so time will tell if that did the trick.

I run AVG antivirus and Spybot S&D.
