Late night driviing and red lights / stop signs

Maybe i should youtube a drive I'm referring to (I live in the NDG/CSL area), since I'm kinda thinking some posters here have more clustered cities?

I used to get out of work at 2-3am depending on the day. There's a red light like 1min from my house which I always stop at. It has low priority as it joins onto the high street of my area, but it's like 99.9% dead at that time. Last November I was driving home, about 2:30am after an awful shift. There was a car in front of me and he went through the red light so I thought fuck it I'll go too... massive truck going at about 50mph hits the car in front of me... killed the guy driving, guy in the truck was fine. Safe to say I crapped my pants and was fortunate that I was 10 yards or so behind him...

So yeah... same 10min drive every night, I see maybe 2-3 other cars a week on my way home and the one time I consider cutting a red light someone dies ;3

Always better to be safe than sorry... especially when it's only an extra 30s.

Not only do I stop at stop signs and red lights but I use my turn signal at 2am. I'm definitely over cautious but I've yet to get a ticket in 9 years of driving.

Actually this is another thing I cant stand, I just saw this post now...retards like you who sit in the left turn lane an put your turn signal on. We know you're fucking turning, thats why you're in the left turn lane. If you were going straight, you wouldnt be in the left turn lane, because youre now comitting a driving infraction.

You are not seriously arguing against using turn signals, even when it is obvious that someone is turning, are you? Going through red lights after you stop to make sure no one is coming is fine and all, since it saves times, but wtf do you get out of not turning on your turn signals when turning? You do realize that every so often there are drivers who aren't paying much attention to driving, yes?

My biggest driving pet peeve, is when some jack ass cuts you off, then waves to you to say "thanks" to create the illusion that you "let them" go when clearly they were just driving like a schmuck.

I pretty much always obey traffic laws, regardless on the time of day. While it's typically unnecessary, there's no need to risk a 300 dollar ticket to save yourself 2 seconds of your life at each stop sign.

I don't run reds because I know the lights around where I live and plan my route around the fucking ridiculous ones, but I tend to roll (very very slowly) through stop signs if I know the area and there's no cars around.

Not signaling is dumb entirely because it takes half a fucking second.
