    Drive (2011)

I did a search so please forgive me if theres already a thread.

I was very surprised when I watched. I had some b-day money to burn and went to see it with my sister and the movie shocked us both.

The only alternative is Warrior but I only remembered that movie when I saw it on the time board at the theatre. I'm downloading Kevin Harts comedy movie though.

Your gonna see lots of cosplays of the guy and your gonna be like who the fuck is that.

Alot of 80's style music and scenery too.

Edit: I'm sorry I just saw the ...
"Last good movie you saw/and would recommend to others"
thread but this deserves its own.

I thought this was gonna be like a serious version of Fast and Crapious but I was happily disappointed.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

    Just saw this, hated it.

Tried too hard, story was weak, acting by anyone but Gosling was weak, and the writing was near nonexistent.

watched it, was alright. First thing I said to my friends was "this is like Cobra 2 or Death Wish 12"

Thought it was fantastic. Some of the lighting/shots were very poetic. I can see this being a "love it or hate it" movie though.

Driver and the Transporter franchise are completely different films really. The Transporter series seem like traditional action movies. Driver has a lot more style (even without the karate) - which I say in comparison. BUT, it's a different style altogether and I don't think Ryan Goslings character knows Wing Chun or Tai Chi. Either Transporter 1 is corny or the trailer did a horrible job at presenting the film.
I don't see what looks so bad, it's a movie to show off cool stunts, and that's what the trailer did.

Transporter 1 was decent, transporter 2 was pretty awesome, transporter 3 wa

Why is it always they fall for a single woman with a young kid.

That trope is so bloody boring and overused. It ruins any desire to go see this movie.

Yah, it's so unrealistic for women to have children...

Saw the movie tonight, thought it was great.

I just watched this movie. It is amazing.

I went in thinking that it was just another Transporter rip-off but it's a completely different type of movie.

The opening sequence is so subtle and understated and it sets the tone for the whole movie.

Ryan Gosling is amazing in this film. Very much shows his acting chops. He really plays it low key and understated. Comes off like a subtle Marlon Brando.

    I thought it was great.

    Disturbing, but great.

Just saw this also, really enjoyed it. Goslings on screen presence is amazing in this movies. Some of the scenes are so well shot and the music is great it makes them amazingly tense.

Side note, what kind of sunglasses are those that he's wearing? I cant find them for my life, but must have them.

Now that you mention it, that is pretty damn annoying. It's like 3/4 of action movie protagonists are a half-step away from cuckoldry.

I thought the same thing. Some of those pan shots were amazing. Just exactly the right speed.

The kiss in the elevator followed by the skull crushing (the lighting in the kiss was intense, just to shift moods so quickly) really pushed the movie into awesomeness.

I fell for this movie pretty hard just based on it's style. It was hard to care about the characters a lot though. Maybe I just didn't get it. I am going to go see it again later this week sometime.

Also the trailer misrepresents the movie and spoils about half of it.

Never saw the trailers really, as I try to avoid everything but teasers.

Excellent film in numerous ways. Hilarious that people are comparing this to Transporter... it's in a completely different league.

Yea, I don't know how you could see any meaningful parallel. There are superficial similarities and they are very few.
