Just saw it, was pretty interesting. I wish there was more of an emotional attachment to the characters besides like Irene and the kid. It had a really weird feel that I just couldn't explain, though. Maybe it was the pacing or something.

This film had more in common with Crash or Monster's Ball than Transporter. That's why I liked it.

Also why are people getting banned for posting shady ass links without the mods actually excising the shady ass links from their posts? Here and in the locked BF3 beta pages... sloppy work.

I didn't really care for this movie, but I'm not gonna say it was bad. It had good shots, great scenes, and I liked the main character, it just wasn't what I expected. I figured there would be more driving, or more action, but there wasn't. I really liked the opening to it, but I hated the ending (though I know people are gonna like it for that).

    Loved it.
    Spoiler: show
The transition from subtle, atmospheric romance to bouts of extreme violence was pretty cool. Gosling brought that out in the character very well.

I think the ending was fine but I didn't like how the boss guy tries to stab him. It would have been better that he left knowing his days would be spent dodging the mob and he'd probably never see the young wife again, with a last shot of him checking out the rear-view mirror or something. Instead the stabbing? Kind of out of place. The extreme violence was part of the movie but I felt like this was the first time in the film where it was gratuitous! Should have ended on a subtle note rather than explicit.

He wouldn't have been dodging the mob because the last person to know about him was the last guy he killed. I thought the ending was fairly subtle. He had to abandon the woman in order to protect her because he was from a different world than her. He was too violent to be with her because she was Good (the thing that brought him to life) while he was Violent. Did you notice the change in his face and demeanor when she told him that her husband was returning. She brought him to life and killed him again. Gosling was truly magnificent in this film.

Coulda used more opera~ish soundtracks for the killings imo. Similar to the ones in the trailer.

loved the soundtrack, it made the neo-noir vibe with its neo-synth vibe. something about that robotic disconnect of synth pop, yet the glossy sheen over it, fit the style of the movie/protagonist perfectly

I liked the movie, going for a real 80s mod vibe to it. I can understand why people would want more driving sequences, they were the best part of the movie. Still easily one of the best made indie movies I've seen in a long time.

I liked the soundtrack until the very end when they had that one song on loop for what felt like the last 10 minutes of the movie.

If people are watching the screener, I think there are some differences in the soundtrack. I haven't seen it in theaters yet. Is the social network theme in there somewhere?

Awesome movie so glad I went to see it in theaters.
The only problem I had with it was that so much was shown in the trailer nothing felt like a surprise till pretty much the end. Oh and the hotel scene...wasn't expecting that lol.

Wasn't it awesome how, in the elevator scene, after Driver smashes the dude's head in - there is this slow-mo transition shot back and forth between him and Irene? Elevator doors slowly closes with her in the background. Then the next shot is a slow-mo of the scorpion emblem on the back of his jacket? So good.

Can't wait for the bluray to come out.

Then after Shannon dies w/ the music picking up as Driver stares at Nino's shop, preparing to kill him. The camera speeds up slightly and kind of zooms around, following Gosling as he gets his mask from the trunk? This movie says a lot with that kind of aesthetic. Its great. I was reading a review where the critic bashed the lack of dialogue, but it wasn't needed.

I think the transition from Driver to Irene to the jacket was supposed to symbolise his transition from his human side, which Irene had brought out, back into his animal side.

I still wanted to know the dealy with the jacket. Was I just not paying attention? Obviously he used to be some sort of killer, was his nickname the scorpion or something?

The less I know about Driver the more I like him. I think it was just a jacket he thought was cool looking. It was the scorpion symbol on the back that was important, not the jacket itself.

Apparently some fable about a scorpion, its on wiki. I guess the story was even told in the movie but I didn't catch it.

It's def a symbol though. Like, dont fuck with the guy in the scorpion jacket
