Promises to be a colorful take on the Brothers Grimm story – one that amps up the action and offers a more contemporary portrayal of the ebony-haired princess, but still has its fair share of comedy and feels like an imaginative fable.

Not to long ago it was revealed that Emma Watson would be taking on the lead role of Belle in an upcoming live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast which, as far as we knew, was only being produced by Guillermo del Toro, now it seems that there is a possibility that he will end up directing the film.

In a recent interview with MTV Del Toro gives an update on the film project revealing that he would like to direct the film, and is currently writing the story. He goes on to talk about Watson’s involvement with project and how she's perfect for the part.

It's one of those landmarks, one of those holy grails, and I really hope to do it. We're just starting the process.

It's a movie that you have to make in the next few years for Emma to be perfect for the part. I think she is the perfect character to do that movie.

If Disney hadn't made adaptations of these movies, this rash of live action fairy tales likely wouldn't have started so I suppose we have Disney to thank/blame for this.
